The Effect of Anti-bacterial Honey Dressing on the Healing of Split Thickness Skin Graft Donor Site...

Disorder of Skin Donor Site

The study, "Evaluation of the effect of antibacterial medical honey dressing for healing of implants donor area", is a Phase 4 Study, Prospective, A randomized trial, 3 arms (treatment groups) trial, Open-label, non-controlled, non-randomized, Aims To test the effectiveness of antibacterial medical honey dressing in the therapy of donor area of implants. In our Research Will participate in 135 new patients over the age of 18, with a wound in the donor area of hip implants, Hospitalized in the Plastic Surgery Unit of the "Haemek" Medical Center. Appropriate patients, who will agree to sign and sign a consent form, be assigned randomly to one of three treatment groups: The research group: Medihoney antibacterial wound dressing. The control group: Paraffin gauze with saline- The basic treatment in the donor site, accepted the literature. Comparison group: Polymem dressing - Common treatment in the donor site in the Plastic Surgery Unit of the "Haemek" Medical Center. Participants in the three study groups will be performed, each visit, Medical monitoring and examination by a team of medical indices of Plastic Surgery Unit, as is customary. The treatment will be performed, twice a week until recovery and the complete closure of the wound.

A Longitudinal Quantitative Assessment of the Effectiveness of Metatarsal Pads on Plantar Pressures...

Forefoot CallusPodiatry2 more

Musculoskeletal deformities of the foot and abnormal biomechanics can create areas of high pressure over bony prominences on the plantar aspect of the foot and often lead to the formation of calluses and corns. Calluses and corns are reported to be the most prevalent foot conditions affecting peoples' lifestyles due to pain and disability. Redistribution of plantar pressure away from areas of high pressure offloading using felt pads to treat corns and calluses is a common practice in chiropody. A more comprehensive understanding of how rapidly the felt pads compress and become less effective in offloading pressure is needed to design better treatment plans to manage calluses and corns and improve patients' quality of life. The objectives of this study are: 1) develop a guideline which informs, at what duration (number of weeks) the semi compressed felt (SCF) Plantar Metatarsal Pad (PMP) should be replaced to manage plantar forefoot callus; 2) Test the guideline by replacing the SCF padding at the determined time interval. The study will be conducted at the Michener Chiropody Clinic at the Michener Institute of Education at UHN. In order to address patient selection bias, the investigators will be recruiting the first 25-40 participants presenting with forefoot callus who meet the inclusion criteria and consent to participate in the study. An exploratory, descriptive and analytic repeated measures study design will be used to address our research questions. The descriptive approach will provide insight into the nature of change over time in the dependent variables, pain and pressure, and an analytic approach will enable further insight into the relationship between those variables. The quantitative metrics used are average plantar pressure at the callus site, as well as self-reported pain using a Visual-Analog Scale (VAS). Results from the first phase will inform the development of the guideline for pad replacement, which in turn will be tested in the next phase of the study.

WoundDisorder of Skin Donor Site

The wound healing time of STSG donor sites which are treated with the novel biocellulose wound dressing containing silk sericin and PHMB should be less or equal to Bactigras®. The wound quality of STSG donor sites which are treated with the novel biocellulose wound dressing containing silk sericin and PHMB should be less or equal to Bactigras®. The amounts of STSG donor site infection which are treated with the novel biocellulose wound dressing containing silk sericin and PHMB should not be more than Bactigras®. The pain level of STSG donor sites which are treated with the novel biocellulose wound dressing containing silk sericin and PHMB should be less or equal to Bactigras®. Adverse events which are occurred from the novel biocellulose wound dressing containing silk sericin and PHMB treatment for STSG donor sites and Bactigras® will be reported, if they occur.

The Efficacy and Safety of a Single 70% Glycolic Acid Peel With Vitamin C for the Treatment of Photoaging...

Photoaging

Our study involves the evaluation of a high potency peel in its efficacy for skin rejuvenation in the treatment of photoaging. This chemical peel regime is a high potency peel 70% glycolic acid combined with vitamin C that is purported to provide a good balance between yielding results and patient safety. AIM We aim to qualitatively evaluate its efficacy and safety profile. Our hypothesis is that a single peel of 70% glycolic acid combined with vitamin C will result in improvement of the features of photoaging with few side effects.

Efficacy and Tolerability of Prednisolone Acetate 0.5% Cream Versus Betamethasone Valerate 0.1%...

DermatitisAtopic5 more

Topical corticosteroids are largely used in dermatology. The major problem related to their use is that the same mechanisms underlying their therapeutic effects (antiinflammatory and antiproliferative) may lead to adverse events. Conditions sensitive to corticosteroids require formulations with mild to moderate potency while high-potency corticosteroids era required in less responsive conditions. The aim of the present study is to compare the safety and efficacy of prednisolone acetate 0.5% cream (mild-potency non-fluoridated corticosteroid) versus betamethasone valerate 0.1% cream (high-potency fluoridated corticosteroid) in the treatment of mild to moderate cortisosensitive dermatosis (atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, seborrheic dermatitis and psoriasis). The study hypothesis is that 0.5% prednisolone cream will be as effective as 0.1% betamethasone cream and will be an alternative option to treat corticosensitive dermatosis in body areas where the use of fluoridated corticosteroids is contraindicated, such as the face.

Topical Preparation of Pomegranate and Ginkgo Biloba for Anti-aging Activities

Skin and Subcutaneous Tissue Disorders

As the quality of life improves, people are seeking to look as young as they feel. Ginkgo biloba (GB) and Pomegranate (PG) extract can be used to create efficacious topical anti-aging products. GB & PG are now widely used in research and clinical trials on age-associated diseases, for example, skin aging, brain dysfunction, cardiovascular system diseases, carcinogen metabolism. The investigator's aim is to formulate a topical cream in the form (O/W or W/O emulsion) formulation, containing GB as an anti-aging formulation for the public.
