Craniosacral Test and Primitive Reflexes in Infant Neurodevelopment
Child Development DisorderQuestion(s): Can active primitive reflexes (APR) and cranial blocks (CB) in healthy children interfere with neurological balance causing psycho-behavioral and cognitive dysfunctions? Design: Cross-sectional and descriptive study analyzing perinatal, neurobehavioral and physiotherapeutic parameters. Participants: School population of both genders (n=120) divided in two groups: 3-6 years old (n=60) and 6-8 years old (n=60). Intervention: Systematic evaluation of the children based on a parent survey, assessment by teachers and physiotherapeutic exploration. Outcome measures: Perinatal (surveyed parents) and neurobehavioral problems (assessed by teachers) were related to the presence of RPA and BC (analyzed by physiotherapeutic exploration). Key words: primitive reflexes, craniosacral disfunctions, neurodevelopment, childhood, early diagnosis, screening.
Recording Facial and Vocal Emotional Productions in Children With Autism as Part of the JEMImE Project...
AutismPervasive Developmental DisorderThe purpose of the JEMImE project is to create a serious game to help children with Autism and Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD) develop facial and vocal emotions in context. The objective of this study is to record facial and vocal emotional productions in children with autism and PDD in order to create an algorithm for the recognition of facial emotional expressions implemented in the serious game JEMImE.
Turkish Affordances in the Home Environment for Motor Development-Infant Scale (AHEMD-IS)
Developmental Delay DisorderGenetic Disease3 moreEnvironment which children live and grown is very important for the all development stages. In Turkey there is no measurement for home environment evaluation so our aim is to investigate the Psychometric Properties of the Turkish version of Affordances in the Home Environment for Motor Development-Infant Scale (AHEMD-IS) in a sample of Turkısh children.
Development of a New Diagnosis and Intervention Method for Developmental Disorders
Developmental DisabilitiesThe purpose of this study is to develop a new diagnostic method for developmental disorders based on behavior recording during the interview of the subjects by medical staff as well anonymous persons. The behavior recording by video camera will be accompanied by non-invasive physiological recordings, including electroencephalogram (EEG), electrocardiogram (ECG), electromyogram (EMG), and body temperature using infrared (IR) thermograph. Thus, the physiologically relevant and the disorder correlated behavior parameters could be extracted and used as new diagnostic markers. If necessary, the medical staff may take blood sample from the subject before and after the interview. For the longitudinal study, the similar interview and the recording of the same subject will be planned to evaluate the effect of the medical and educational intervention. The investigators also examine the synergistic effect of the intervention and the administration of the supplement (e.g., vitamin D, arachidonic acid, coenzyme Q10 (CoQ-10)). The clinician may use Risperidone.
Open Label Study of Zonisamide in the Treatment of Epilepsy in Patients With Mental Retardation...
EpilepsyMental Retardation1 moreThe purpose of this study is to assess the efficacy and tolerability in "real-world" clinical practice, of adjunctive zonisamide treatment in adult patients with developmental disabilities and epilepsy.
Childhood Autism Risks From Genetics and the Environment (The CHARGE Study)
AutismDevelopmental DisabilitiesThe purpose of this study is to understand how genes, environment, and the interplay between the two, influences the development of autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders.
Better Delineation of BCL11B Related Phenotype and Epigenetic Signature.
Intellectual Developmental DisorderBCL11B Related DisorderBCL11B related disorder, also known as Gabriele-de-Vries syndrome, is mainly characterised by developmental delay (DD) and intellectual disability (ID), ranging from mild to severe, and neuroimaging abnormalities. The aims of this study are first to better delineate the clinical phenotype, as well as the neuropsychological profile, and the brain MRI characteristics; and, second, to study the epigenetic signatures in a cohort of individuals with BCL11B intragenic pathogenic variants. This work will conduct to a MD thesis of a clinical resident geneticist in France. Physician that will participate will fill an Excel sheet regarding the clinical and neuropsychological assessment. The investigators will be also happy to have either CD-ROM or a link to have access to the brain MRI data as well as a DNA sample with a minimum 0.5ug of peripheral blood genomic DNA. The investigators will gather the DNA in Montpellier genetic lab (Dr Mouna BARAT) and send the batch to the Dr Sadikovic' lab. Between 2019 and 2020, The investigators have already recruited data from individuals with BCL11B pathogenic variants from several European and American genetic centres.
Investigation of the Usability of the Dynamic Scaffolding System
Child Development DisorderChild Development1 moreThe aim of the present study was to compare the duration of use of the Dynamic Scaffolding System (DSS) in children with different levels of motor impairment, to report adverse events during use, and to examine parental satisfaction. One hundred children with special needs aged between 9 and 108 months who had used the DSS device for at least 6 months and their parents were included in the study. The duration of daily use of the DSS device by the children, any adverse events during use, and parental satisfaction were assessed using the Quebec 2.0 Assistive Technology User Satisfaction Assessment Questionnaire.
Predicting Developmental Disability Type and Mental Retardation Level in Children With General Developmental...
Global Developmental DelayCerebral Palsy2 moreThe purpose of this study is to find the relationship between the stage and quality of developmental delay during infancy and toddler age, and the final diagnosis that the child gets a few years later (MR, type of PDD, CP or comorbidity of a few disorders).
Feeding Trial in Pediatric Patients
Developmental DisabilitiesThis is a single center, prospective, non-randomized, uncontrolled, observational study of the use of an enteral nutrition product in pediatric patients with developmental disabilities.
