Prediction of Inflammatory Response and Hypotensive Syndrome After Cardiac Surgery by Preoperative...
Systemic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (SIRS)Postoperative Vasodilation Syndrome3 moreThe purpose of this study is to find a preoperative biomarker before cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass related to severe postoperative inflammatory response and circulatory complications. The investigators hypothesize that an increase of the preoperative stimulation of vasopressinergic system (in response to acute or chronic conditions) could lead to a microcirculatory dysfunction and favor the occurrence of vasodilatation during and after CPB and increase the symptoms of an inflammatory response after CPB. By defining a high risk population, a targeted strategy of monitoring and early or preventive treatment could improve postoperative prognosis.
Effect of Statin Treatment on Urinary AQP2 (uAQP2/01)
HypercholesterolemiaDiabetes InsipidusThe purpose of this study is to test the hypothesis that the function and/or regulation of urinary aquaporin 2 in hypercholesterolemic humans is affected by standard statin therapy, as compared with diet alone
Copeptin in the Diagnosis and Differential Diagnosis of Diabetes Insipidus. The CoSIP-Study
Diabetes InsipidusEvaluation of Copeptin in the differential diagnosis of diabetes insipidus.
Copeptin as a Biomarker for Central Diabetes Insipidus Development Following Pituitary Surgery
Sellar and Suprasellar MassesPituitary TumorAccess the optimal cut point value of copeptin which predicts development of central diabetes insipidus postoperatively with highest accuracy. Access the optimal cut point value of copeptin which predicts the lack of central diabetes insipidus postoperatively with highest accuracy Access the relative change in copeptin values between baseline and post-surgery as a predictor for diabetes insipidus development.
Copeptin and Psychological Stress of Medic During COVID-19 Pandemic
Psychological StressHemostatic DisorderPsychological stress (PSS) is one of the most common problems among healthcare providers during COVID-19 pandemic. PSS influences the homeostatic equilibrium of the body, involving activation of the sympathetic nervous system and hypothalamus pituitary adrenal (HPA) axis. Copeptin; C-terminal portion of Vasopressin (AVP) precursor is stable. Nevertheless, Evidence about influence of PSS on copeptin levels is lacking. The reason we are doing this research is to determine the level of psychological stress among healthcare providers exposed to at the time of work in intensive care unit (ICU) during COVID-19 pandemic; They will be appraised every assembly for psychological stress level; before start of duty shifts (first time), one week after start (second time) and two weeks after departure from shift duties in ICU (third time) for assessment of psychological stress level and stress hormones.

Copeptin for Prediction of Treatment Response in Children With Monosymptomatic Nocturnal Enuresis...
Nocturnal EnuresisMonosymptomatic nocturnal enuresis (MEN) is a common problem in children, affecting 7-10% of all 7 year olds. MEN is often leading to psychosocial problems because of its burden and stigmatism. The only available medical treatment option is the vasopressin analogum Desmopressin®. However, according to the literature, only one third of patients shows a good treatment response, defined as more than 90% of reduced bed wetting. Furthermore, treatment with Desmopressin® may lead to psychosocial problems, high costs and potentially dangerous side effects like water intoxication and hypertension. Copeptin, mirroring arginine vasopressin (AVP), has been shown to be significantly lower in patients with MEN compared to controls and lower in patients with severe bed wetting compared to patients with only slight bed wetting.
Tracking Neurodegeneration in Early Wolfram Syndrome
Type 1 DiabetesDiabetes Insipidus2 moreThe goal of this study is to determine the pattern of early neurodegenerative changes in WFS (Wolfram Syndrome). The investigator will perform cross-sectional and longitudinal assessments of youth with WFS, targeting sensitive neural systems with quantified neuroimaging and behavioral measures. In addition, the investigator will establish the utility of a WFS severity rating scale (WFS Unified Rating Scale or WURS). Preliminary data support the feasibility of this approach and its potential to generate important new information about neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative patterns in WFS. This work is necessary to position the field for future clinical trials to test interventions for WFS neurodegeneration. Ultimately, a better understanding of the trajectory of neurodegeneration in WFS and the development of effective interventions may be relevant to other more common neurodegenerative and endocrine (Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes) diseases in which ER stress has been implicated.
