Personalized Glucose Optimization Through Nutritional Intervention

ObesityPre-diabetic1 more

Maintaining well-controlled blood glucose concentrations is essential in the prevention of chronic cardiometabolic diseases. The blood glucose response to dietary and/or lifestyle patterns may vary between individuals. Insulin resistance in specific metabolic organs such as skeletal muscle, adipose tissue or the liver may underlie differential blood glucose responses. This dietary intervention study aims to obtain insight into the metabolic and lifestyle determinants of postprandial blood glucose responses, and to establish the effect of macronutrient manipulation of a 12-week dietary intervention on blood glucose homeostasis in metabolically different subgroups an its relationship to physical and mental performance and well-being.

School-Based Program On Metabolic Disease

ObesityDiabetes Mellitus5 more

Mexico occupies the first place worldwide in childhood obesity. Its urban and indigenous communities present different levels of westernization which have triggered different epidemiological diseases. This study aims to treat and prevent obesity and related diseases. A school-based multi-component intervention program is developed in three ethnic groups with varying levels of westernization: Mestizos, Seris and Yaquis. Measurements are obtained to evaluate obesity, cardiovascular, diabetes risk, hepatic and renal function, and physical fitness. The intervention consists on Physical Activity (PA), Health Education (HE) and Nutrition (NP) programs carried out in six urban (Mestizo ethnic group) and indigenous schools (Seri and Yaqui ethnic groups). A total of 800 participants were part of the PA and HE programs (Education Arm), and 117 of them were also part of the NP program (Nutrition Arm). Measurement differences, after and before treatments are used to assess the intervention effect by age, sex, ethnicity, nutritional status, and treatments. Expanded access is not applicable to this study. The Government's Secretary of Education does not allow developing a plan to share individual data of participants.

A Research Study of How a New Medicine NNC0148-0287 C (Insulin 287) Works in the Body of People...

Diabetes MellitusType 2

This study will be conducted to look at the effect of decreased kidney function when getting one dose of insulin 287 and to guide dosing recommendations in people who have altered kidney function. Insulin 287 works in the body for a long time (long-acting). It is taken once a day by injecting under the skin. The main target patient group for insulin 287 is people with type 2 diabetes. Participants will get just one injection. The study will last for up to 80 days. Participants will have 11 out-patient visits with the study doctor and one in-house visit of 3 days and 2 nights. Participants will have some assessments like several blood draws, electrocardiograms (ECGs), urine collections and capillary blood sugar tests. Participants cannot take part if they are hypersensitive to the study medicine, if they received any investigational product within 90 days before screening, or if they have certain diseases e.g. HIV or hepatitis or heart problems. Participants have to take photos if they experience any allergic reactions and send them to their study doctor. Participants' kidney function will be examined by a so called "Iohexol test".

Effect of VeSTAL Device in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

Type 2 DiabetesMetabolic Syndrome

The aim of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of non-invasive electrical vestibular nerve stimulation (VeNS), together with a lifestyle modification program, as a method of reducing HbA1c, as compared to a sham control with both study arms incorporating a lifestyle modification program. Allocation: Randomized Endpoint classification: Efficacy Study Intervention Model: Parallel Assignment in 1:1 active to control allocation

The Role of Proper Insulin Injection Technique in the Treatment of Diabetes. Mellitus

Diabetes MellitusType 23 more

This is a prospective, post-marketing, single-arm clinical investigation on the effects of optimal insulin injection technique, in conjunction with the use of disposable Becton Dickinson (BD) Micro-Fine Plus 32G pen needles, by Type I and Type II Diabetes Mellitus patients, with or without lipohypertrophy, on clinical outcomes like HbA1c and hypoglycemic events, as well as changes in insulin Total Daily Dose (TDD) and patient's Quality of Life (QoL). During this study, each subject will be trained in the optimal insulin injection technique by personal training as well as by following online video training modules on a specific web-based platform.

Evaluation of Losartan and Perindopril in Blacks Type 2 Diabetics Patients

Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

The aim of this study is to compare the short-term effects of ACEi and angiotensin II receptor blockers on cardiac and renal protection in black type 2 diabetics patients CARE-PLP is a double-arm, double-blind, randomized and parallel clinical trial conducted at the National Obesity Center in the Yaoundé Central Hospital. A population of Type 2 diabetes patients, with hypertension and / or microalbuminuria and who are not taking ACEi or angiotensin receptors blockers, is randomize into two groups. Depending on the group, 10 mg Perindopril or 100 mg Losartan is add to the usual treatment for each patient. The patients are followed-up for a period of 08 weeks. The primary outcome is the variation of exercise induced urinary albumin excretion after 08 weeks of intervention.

Cinnamomum Cassia Effect on IGF1 and Metabolic Control in Patients With DM2 Without Glycemic Control...

Diabetes MellitusType 2

Among the multiple treatment options for Diabetes Mellitus Type 2 (DM2), the influence on Insuline like growth factor 1 (IGF1) plays a causal role in diabetes but has shown similarities with insulin, both in its structure and in its function, including a rapid reduction in glucose levels in blood, could improve glycemic control in patients. Oral administration of 3 g of cinnamomum cassia for 90 days acts as an enhancer of the IGF1 insulin response and on metabolic control (fasting glucose, glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c), triglycerides, total cholesterol, high density cholesterol, low density cholesterol, very low density cholesterol, systolic and diastolic blood pressure (TAS and TAD), body weight) in patients with DM2 without glycemic control treated with metformin at doses ≤ 850 mg daily.
