Diabetes Mellitus and microRNA as Risk Factors for Mild Cognitive Impairment: Impact of Life Style...

Diabetes MellitusType 2

This is a 2-step study; 1st step was a cross sectional study carried out on 163 consecutive Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) patients employee attending outpatient clinics of the National Research Center (NRC), Egypt. A face-to-face interview was carried out to collect data about demographic data and medical history. Cognitive function assessment was carried out using Adenbrooke's Cognitive Examination III (ACE III) test and the Trail Making Test (TMT) which consists of two parts (A and B). Quality of life and depression were also assessed using Short Form-36 (SF-36) and Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HRDS) questionnaires respectively. The second step was an interventional study for health education and life style modification. The main outcome measures were Fasting Blood Glucose (FBG), HbA1c, total blood cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, LDL cholesterol and triglycerides, oxidant and antioxidant (Malondialdehyde (MDA), glutathione peroxidase (GPx), glutathione reductase (GR)) which were assessed at baseline and reassessed after the intervention.

A Research Study Looking at How Oral Semaglutide Works in People With Type 2 Diabetes in Japan,...

Diabetes MellitusType 2

The purpose of the study is to collect information on how Rybelsus® works in people with type 2 diabetes and to see if Rybelsus® can lower their blood sugar levels, and to get side-effects information. Participants will get Rybelsus® as prescribed to them by the study doctor. The study will last for about 8-10 months. Participants will be asked to complete a questionnaire about how they take their Rybelsus® tablets. Participants will complete this questionnaire during their normally scheduled visit with the study doctor.

Type2 Diabetes

Previous thiazolidinediones (TZDs) have issued various safety concerns including weight gain, bladder cancer, and congestive heart failure (CHF). This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of lobeglitazone, a novel TZD in patients with type 2 diabetes in real world.

Metabolic Characteristics of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Combined With Acute Myocardial Infarction:...

STEMI

This study is a retrospective case-control study. In this study, through untargeted metabolomics, investigators identified several specific changed serum metabolites in T2DM patients with or without AMI and their functions/category. Moreover, researchers selected several endogenous candidate biomarkers with larger fold change for validation in expanded population to find biomarkers which effectively predict the development of STEMI in patients with T2DM.

Feasibility of an Online Exercise Community Among Individuals With Type 2 Diabetes

Type 2 DiabetesType2diabetes3 more

The aim of this study is to evaluate the feasibility, fidelity and acceptability of an 8-week high intensity online physical exercise combined with online group meetings and supported with an activity tracker in individuals with type 2 diabetes. The design of the intervention will be developed using a co-creation approach. The intervention consist of eight weeks of 30 minutes online physical exercise followed by 30 minutes of online group meeting in Microsoft Teams once a week. Outcomes includes pre-defined research progression criteria and secondary outcomes of physical and mental health and participant feedback.

diEtitiaNs Helping pAtieNts CarE for Diabetes (ENHANCED)

Diabetes MellitusType 2

This study aims to randomly assign individuals with type 2 diabetes into the ENHANCED randomized control trial. The study is being conducted by the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation (MHIF) and will have two study sites 1) Hutchinson Health and 2) New Ulm Medical Center. The study is primarily funded through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND). The study will examine the impact of a registered dietitian-led, primary care integrated, telemedicine program on diabetes care measures (the 'D5') over one year as compared to usual care. The D5 goals include: blood pressure <140/90 mmHg, taking a statin as appropriate, A1c <8%, not using tobacco and taking an aspirin as appropriate.

Clinical Outcomes of Exenatide Versus Basal Insulin

Type 2 Diabetes

This is a retrospective cohort study based on Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD) database analysis to compare therapy effectiveness, and cost between exenatide and basal insulin in patients with type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes (T2DM) is a chronic condition characterized by elevated blood sugar levels (hyperglycaemia) that can result in an increased risk of a variety of conditions including heart disease, strokes, kidney failure, blindness and amputation. Whilst initially patients may control their blood sugar by lifestyle modification (diet and exercise), ultimately most will require therapeutic intervention with regimens that increase in complexity as T2DM progresses. Exenatide is a relatively recent anti-diabetic drug which is known to lead to weight loss as well as improved blood glucose control. It has also been associated with reduced heart attacks and strokes. In this study CPRD database will be used to compare outcomes for patients prescribed exenatide compared with those prescribed insulin; a more established treatment for T2DM. In particular changes from baseline in blood sugar control and weight will be considered as the primary outcomes. As the choice to treat with exenatide or insulin will be related to patient characteristics which may in themselves be associated with the outcomes of the study we aim to match study patients on some of these key variables and adjust for others in our analysis.

Effect of Motivation Text Messages on Diabetes Patients

Diabetes MellitusType 2

The investigators will examine the influence of increasing motivation on healthy lifestyle and glycemic control in diabetes patients. Participants will be randomized to two groups, the control group gets informational text message and the intervention group gets motivational SMS. The patients get a weekly text message and after 26 weeks the HbA1c and quality of life will be assessed.
