The purpose of the study is to collect information on how semaglutide works in real world patients. Participants will get semaglutide prescribed to them by their doctor. The study will last for about 6 to 8 months. Participants will be asked to complete some questionnaires about their health and your diabetes treatment. Participants will complete these during their normally scheduled visits with their doctor.

The increasing prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus is a worldwide problem. In preventing risk factors and unhealthy lifestyle through improved health literacy, chances are seen to delay or even avoid type 2 diabetes mellitus. The aim of the DIMINI-project is to prevent type 2 diabetes mellitus and to strengthen the health literacy of people at increased risk of developing it. For this purpose, people at increased risk are first identified by using the standardized screening tool Finnish Diabetes Risk Score (FINDRISC) adapted for Germany. Identified risk persons then receive a needs-based, modular lifestyle intervention including nutrition tips and physical exercises either paper- or app-based.

In type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and obese patients the adipose tissue could over-express cytokines, sirtuin-1 (SIRT1), and microRNAs (miRs) implied in the regulation of left ventricle (LV) diastolic function (LV-DF). Ghrelin could modulate these pathways. Thus, in the current study authors will investigate ghrelin expression in T2DM obese patients after abdominal fat excision, and particularly in those with normalization of LV-DF at 1 year of follow-up.

Current gold standard methodologies for diagnosing type 2 diabetes (T2D) or prediabetes can be unreliable and inaccurate, and require the need for multiple different tests for comparison. It is possible that a simpler and more refined method of diagnosing T2D or prediabetes involves examining the proportional-integral (PI) control system of the body's glycemic function (i.e., a model of the glucose curve). The purpose of this research is to examine how well a PI model can diagnose nondiabetic, prediabetic, or diabetic patients based on glucose data gathered from a wearable glucose monitoring device.

In this survey study, researchers want to find out more about how physicians are treating patients diagnosed with reduced kidney function (chronic kidney disease, CKD) and high blood sugar level (type 2 diabetes); what physicians know about the different treatment options available; and how they use this knowledge to treat their patients successfully. Additionally, researchers want to gather information about patient's awareness of their disease and which criteria they consider important for their treatment of the disease. The study will survey a total of 150 patients with type 2 diabetes: 50 patients with mild CKD; 50 patients with moderate CKD; and 50 patients with severe CKD. Patients eligible for this study can be male or female and should be at least 18 years old. In addition, a total of 150 physicians will be surveyed. Physicians eligible for this study may be general practitioners, endocrinologist, or nephrologists.
