MoCa Test for the Early Detection of Mild Cognitive Impairment During Annual Assessment of Young...

Diabetes Mellitus Type 1Diabetes Mellitus Type 21 more

T2D and cognitive impairment are two of the most common chronic condition found in persons 60 years and older. Diabetes type 2 increases with age and studies suggest that the diabetes is one of the risk factor for cognitive impairment and dementia. Although there is much recent research showing that diabetics at every age have more cognitive impairment and dementia than non-diabetics, relatively little attention has been paid to the implications of this complication in the management of T2D in terms of screening, prevention, education and treatment adherence. There are now guidelines for periodic evaluation of patients with diabetes as early detection of complications of the disease, but so far there are no similar assessment and monitoring of cognitive function. In this study the investigators examine cognitive function in young diabetic patients (from 20 to 55) using the MoCa test, that allows detection of mild cognitive impairment, and may be carried out during a visit, an annual advisory diabetes clinic.

Evaluation of the Targeted Screening of Type 2 Diabetes by Capillary Blood Glucose

Type 2 Diabetes

Type 2 diabetes is the chronic disease with the most important development in France, and particularly in the Saint-Etienne area due to his specific population. Different studies showed the interest of screening targeted on high risk population to reduce cardiovascular risks and mortality. The current screening recommandation is an opportunist targeted screening on population older than 45 years with risk factors by a fasting glucose every 3 years, and a communautaire screening targeted on population older than 45 years suffering precarity with or without risk factors by capillary blood glucose or fasting glucose. The objective of the Sainté Diabete network is to optimize the screening of diabetics, their follow-up and their treatments. Using a self-administered questionnaire during a medical visit could be a simple, cheap and efficient tool to detect diabetics as soon as possible.

Progression From Impaired Fasting Glucose to Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Among Subjects With and Without...

Diabetes MellitusHypertension1 more

Retrospective cohort of all the patients with elevated blood sugar (but no Diabetes) attending the study sites from 2002 to 2007. We retrieval their records to see how many of them actually developed diabetes. The patient's record will be followed up to 6 years after their first abnormally high blood sugar checked. We will measure their parameters including sex, age, pay code and whether they have hypertension or not to see what factors will increase risk of DM development.

Study to Identify Adequate Biomarker to Detect Vitamin B12 Deficiency in Type 2 Diabetic Patients...

Diabetes Mellitus Type 2

In this study we compare the vitamin B12 status by measuring serum vitamin B12 and holotranscobalamin in type 2 diabetic patients with and without metformin treatment. Afterwars we investigate which biomarker could be adequate to reflect B12 status in metformin-treated patients. With the help of a questionnaire we assess clinical, nutritional and demographic factors which are associated with vitamin B12 deficiency.
