Oral Health Policy for Patients With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in Chile: A Microsimulation Model...

Type 2 Diabetes MellitusPeriodontitis2 more

The goal of this study is to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of the current proposal and different decision-making scenarios of periodontal care coverage increases for patients with T2DM in Chile. The main objective of the clinical section of this study (effectiveness) aims to determine the effectiveness of periodontal care in patients with T2DM under follow-up in the Cardiovascular Health Program (Programa de Salud Cardiovascular, PSCV) of the in the CEMO Villa Sur of Pedro Aguirre Cerda and the CESFAM Antonio Varas of Puerto Montt. A highly matched control group is proposed using Propensity Score Matching of PSCV patients with T2DM who have not received periodontal care. This would allow a better comparison of the individuals who will actually be treated against a counterfactual against of those with similar characteristics who did not receive periodontal intervention during the follow-up period of this first stage.

A Research Study Looking at How Oral Semaglutide Works in People With Type 2 Diabetes in Finland,...

Diabetes MellitusType 2

The purpose of the study is to collect information on how Rybelsus® works in people with type 2 diabetes and to see if Rybelsus® can lower their blood sugar levels. Participants will get Rybelsus® as prescribed to them by the study doctor. The study will last for about 8-10 months. Participants will be asked to complete a questionnaire about how they take their Rybelsus® tablets. Participants will complete this questionnaire during their normally scheduled visit with the study doctor.

Twenty-year Follow-up of the Inter99 Cohort

Coronary Heart DiseaseAcute Myocardial Infarction4 more

Being born small increases your risk of developing Type 2 diabetes (T2D) with age. Furthermore, data even suggest that some of the diseases ("complications") in the eyes, kidneys, nerves, liver, blood vessels and heart often seen in T2D patients may not only be due to high blood sugar levels, but rather they to some extent are due to reduced growth in your mother´s womb. The Inter99 cohort included 6784 Danish citizens aged 30 to 60 years when established 20 years ago. Data from the Inter99 cohort showed a strong role of low birth weight (LBW) on T2D risk. The aim is now to reexamine risk of T2D and complications in all the alive 6004 elderly Inter99 participants. Importantly, today there are available techniques to perform detailed examinations for even the earliest signs of complications in both subjects with and without diabetes, and the results of this study will altogether provide important new insights into both the origin and classification of T2D and associated complications. It is hypothesized that being born with lower birth weights increases the adult risk of T2D and heart disease and associated complications in the large and smaller blood vessels.

Effect of Buerger Allen Exercise on Peripheral Circulation Among Patients With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus...

Peripheral Circulatory Disorder Due to Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

This randomized control trial aims to compare peripheral circulation in type 2 diabetes mellitus. This study aims to determine the effect of the Buerger-Allen exercise (BAE) on peripheral circulation among patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in a tertiary care hospital, Lahore. Participants will perform the Buerger -Allen exercise with routine care control group: Researchers will compare with routine care

Psychological Distress and Type 2 Diabetes

Type 2 DiabetesPsychological Distress

Increasing evidence suggests that psychological disorders play an important role in the development and worsening of type 2 diabetes (T2D). Among the spectrum of psychological disorders, there is a wide literature about the association between depression and T2D and current data show an approximately two-fold prevalence of depression in adults affected by diabetes compared to un-affected subjects. Moreover, depression in diabetic patients is associated with higher blood glucose levels, poorer adherence to therapeutic regimens (whether pharmacological or therapeutic lifestyle changes), more medical complications, and higher hospitalization rates. Nevertheless, at the best of our knowledge, the mechanism underlying the association between depression and adverse diabetes-related outcomes is currently unresolved. Aim of this project is to assess the efficacy of a psychological treatment for diabetic patients with suboptimal level of Hemoglobin A1c. This project is a RCT that seeks to address the question if type 2 diabetic patients with suboptimal glycaemic control would benefit from a specific psychological intervention, as specified below. A total of 80 diabetic patients will be recruited and randomly assigned to two treatment arms: Standard diabetes care 24 individual sessions of psychological intervention The expected main outcome is the improvement of glycaemic control under psychological intervention in 38 weeks of follow up. Secondary outcomes: reduction of depression and anxiety, improvement in self-efficacy, perceived interference caused by diabetes, family support and eating problems.

Cardiovascular Risk and Functional Responses From Dancing at Home in the Elderly With and Without...

AgingType2 Diabetes

The goal of this randomized controlled trial is to investigate the effects of a dance intervention performed at home, on cardiovascular risk factors and functional capacity of elderly individuals with and without type 2 diabetes mellitus. Comparison will be performed with a walking exercise intervention, performed outside. Dance sessions will be guided online by an expertise instructor, and walking sessions will be performed at a self-selected intensity, with no simultaneous supervision. All participants will complete an exercise diary after each exercise session (reporting perception of subjective effort, affective responses, and others). The participants will include men and women between 65 and 80 years old, with body mass index inferior to 35 Kg /m2. The main outcome of this study is the peak oxygen consumption (VO2peak). The secondary outcomes are cardiovascular risk associated factors (C-reactive protein, TNF-alpha, lipid profile, etc) and functional performance (muscle strength and power, balance, gate ability, etc). Cognitive skills (executive function and memory) will be also assessed. The experimental design will include a control period of four weeks, two sessions of assessments before and after the interventions, and twelve weeks of dancing or walking interventions, performed three times a week, in non-consecutive days, with 60 min duration.

LIVING - Physical Activity in a Self-management Program Among Persons With Type 2 Diabetes

Diabetes MellitusType 21 more

The goal of this pragmatic clinical trial is to evaluate two municipality-based interventions, Lev Livet (one without physical activity and one with) against no intervention in people with type 2 diabetes. The main questions it aims to answer are: • What is the additive effect of HiiT on accelerometer-measured physical activity? • Which factors that facilitate or limit the implementation of Lev Livet? • What are the health-economic implications of the intervention? Participants will participate in a disease management program with and without physical activity added. Researchers will compare with no intervention to see if Lev Livet improves diabetes self-management.
