Detection of LADA in a Hospital in the Mexican Southeast
Latent Autoimmune DiabetesPatients with Latent Autoimmune Diabetes in Adults (LADA) show autoantibodies that indicate an autoimmune pathogenesis. Glutamic acid decarboxylase autoantibodies (GADA) are most prevalent islet autoantibodies in European patients with LADA. In this sense, it is considered that it is sufficient to determine GADA to identify subjects with LADA from patients with T2D for research purposes. Therefore, the aim was to investigated the presence of GADA in serum of subjects with T2D and its relationship with clinical criteria, metabolic control, drug treatment, and diabetes complications to identify possible patients with LADA in a hospital in southeastern Mexico is worthwhile. The sample was recruited at the Diabetes Clinic of the Regional Hospital of High Specialty "Dr. Gustavo A. Rovirosa Pérez", in the period from January 2020 to May 2021. The diagnosis was based in accordance with World Health Organization (WHO, 1999) criteria. Inclusion criteria: 1) patients previously diagnosed with T2D, 2) absence of insulin requirement for at least 6 months after diagnosis, 3) > 30 and < 50 years old at diabetes diagnosis, 4) BMI < 40 kg/m2, 5) subjects who agreed to participate in the study and signed the informed consent before the interview. Serum GADA and other biochemical concentrations were determined by an enzymatic immunoassay method (Human Anti-Glutamic Acid Decarboxylase ELISA Kit; MyBioSource).
Avoidance of Hyperglycaemia in People With Type 1 Diabetes
Diabetes MellitusType 1This study aims to learn more about avoidance of hyperglycaemia in adults with type 1 diabetes. People who attend a type 1 diabetes clinic will be invited to complete a number of self-report questionnaires and a survey. A subsection of people who experience avoidance of hyperglycaemia will be invited to take part in an interview in order to gain a more in-depth understanding of this issue.
Bone Health and Microbiome in Persons With Type 1 Diabetes
Type1diabetesIt is well-established that persons with type 1 diabetes (T1D) are at an increased risk for morbidity and mortality related to bone fracture due to poor bone health, however we do not fully understand the mechanism behind the increased fracture risk. We are examining bone health and the microbiome in adolescents and young adults with type 1 diabetes to better understand the reasons behind this increased risk.
Food Collection From Type 1 Diabetic Patients Practicing Insulin Functional Therapy
Diabetes Type 1a food collection will be performed in this study with type 1 diabetic patients trained to carbohydrate counting, to collect data on the meals consumed daily and their quantities for a period of 1 month.
Investigation of the Skin Barrier in Patients With Type 1 Diabetes
Type 1 DiabetesThis study is a case-control study comparing the skin barrier between 50 T1D patients with healthy controls in 3 age-strata including both pediatric and adult patients.

DEPS-R Turkish Version in Adults With Type 1Diabetes
Type 1 DiabetesA growing body of research has revealed the good psychometric properties and three-component factor structure of DEPS-R in children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes (T1D) but research with adults has limited and has differing results. The Diabetes Eating Problem Survey-Revised (DEPS-R) developed by Markowitz et al is a diabetes-specific self-report instrument to screen eating disorders for individuals with T1D. DEPS-R is a 16-item diabetes-specific self-report questionnaire to test for diabetes-specific eating disorders. Answers are scored on a six-point Likert scale, with higher scores indicating more DEB and a total score of ≥20 indicating a high risk for eating disorders (range 0-80). The original DEPS-R has been shown to have a good internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha=0.86) and construct validity in a sample of the pediatric population with T1D. This study aimed to evaluate the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the DEPS-R questionnaire for adults with T1D, investigate its psychometric properties and factor structure, and examine its relationship with the EDE-Q questionnaire.
Assessment of Sleep and Sleep Disruptors in Adolescents With Type 1 Diabetes
Type 1 DiabetesInsufficient SleepThe goal of this study is to identify causes of insufficient sleep and sleep disruptors in adolescents with type 1 diabetes. For this study, adolescents will wear an actigraphy watch and complete sleep diaries for seven days. On completion of the seven days, they will complete several questionnaires regarding sleep, fear of hypoglycemia, and anxiety and depression. A subset of participants will additionally complete a qualitative interview session to obtain a deeper understanding of sleep disruptors and barriers and facilitators to improving sleep health.
