Using Mobile Phone Short Message Service (SMS) Reminders to Enhance Appointment Attendance in DM...
Appointments and SchedulesDiabetes Mellitus1 moreA randomized controlled trial of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus with multiple appointments into short message service group and control group. The attendance rate of these two groups of patients will be compared.
The Effect of n-3 Fatty Acid Supplementation on Serum Levels, and Gene Expression of type2 Diabetes...
Diabetes Mellitus Type IIThe aim of this study is to determine the effects of supplementation with n-3 fatty acid or placebo for 10 weeks on the expression of Sirt-1, AdipoR1 & AdipoR2 genes in the peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC) and circulatory levels of Resistin, MCP-1 and Adiponectin of type2 diabetes patient
Acute Effects of Inspiratory Muscle Exercise on Glucose Level and Glucose Variability in Patients...
Diabetes MellitusType 2Type 2 diabetes is associated with respiratory muscle weakness and autonomic neuropathy. The exercise of inspiratory muscles has been investigating in various clinical situations and may cause similar benefits as the conventional exercises. The assessment of glucose variability has been used as an alternative tool to evaluate the others mechanisms than the absolute values of glucose levels, special during the exercise. However, the effect of inspiratory muscle exercise on glucose levels and glucose variability is not clear yet. The aim of the proposed research is to evaluate the acute effects of inspiratory muscle exercise using a high load of 60% of MIP on glucose levels and glucose variability in patients with type 2 diabetes.
Dietary Antioxidants, Redox Tone and Health Promotion: an Orthomolecular Study of Interactions
Type 2 Diabetes MellitusAging is associated with increased risk of various diseases, and much attention is given to the use of natural products (like herbs) and 'functional food', such as teas, for healthy aging. The body is continuously exposed to potentially damaging agents (known as free radicals). The imbalance between the amount of free radicals and that of antioxidants in the body is known as oxidative stress. It is known that Type 2 DM is a state of increased oxidative stress, which is thought to lead to many long term complications of Type 2 DM, such as heart disease, vision problems and kidney failure. Antioxidant therapy, including increased consumption of antioxidant rich foods and beverages such as green tea, has been suggested as possibly beneficial in lowering the risk of these complications. The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of regular intake of green tea on indices of oxidative stress and antioxidant defense within cells, plasma and urine so as to investigate if regular intake of green tea can be recommended for health promotion.
The Effect of Anakinra on Insulin Secretion
Glucose IntoleranceImpaired Insulin Secretion1 moreRationale: Once diabetes develops, β-cell function progressively deteriorates and therapeutic approaches that prevent of delay loss of β-cell function are needed in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Recent findings suggest that interleukin-1 (IL-1) may be involved in the progressive β-cell dysfunction in type 2 diabetes mellitus. Objective: to determine whether blocking IL-1β by recombinant human IL-1ra (anakinra) improves beta-cell function in subjects with β-cell dysfunction.
Evaluating the Impact of Year Long, Augmented Diabetes Self Management Support
Diabetes Mellitus Type 2Improving diabetes social support is associated with health improvement benefits. This study is a prospective randomized controlled trial comparing the effects of telephone-based diabetes self-management support (DSMS) compared with usual care, which includes diabetes self-management education (DSME), during a 1-year period. It will determine whether this specific model for providing on-going support to people with diabetes will better enable them to maintain the engagement in self-care behaviors, clinical improvements and diabetes-specific knowledge gained during the course of diabetes self-management education.
Empowerment and Support for the Diabetic Patient
Type 2 DiabetesCHANGE-D objectives are to evaluate to what extent personal coaching for healthy lifestyle and treatment adherence improves clinical outcomes among uncontrolled diabetic patients. Evaluate to what extent personal coaching for healthy lifestyle and treatment adherence improves self treatment among uncontrolled diabetic patients.
The Effects of Breakfast Size on Hormonal Profile in Adults With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
Diabetes MellitusType 2Studies has found a connection between breakfast consumption and obesity and obesity-related complications, but only few studies examined the effect of breakfast size. The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of breakfast size on several parameters in adults with Type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Winter-Swimming and Brown Adipose Tissue Activity in Middel-aged Obese Subjects (WinterBAT).
Adipose TissueBrown6 moreThis study investigates repetitive cold-water exposure on brown fat activity assessed by infrared thermography imagine. Furthermore we will assess glucose control upon winter-swimming. Obese prediabetic men and women will be randomized to winter-swimming or control conditions for 4 months.
Antidiuretic Function Before and During Treatment With SGLT2 Inhibitors
Diabetes MellitusType 22 moreSubjects treated with Canagliflozin, Dapagliflozin and Empagliflozin obtained improvement on blood pressure values, body weight and cardiovascular mortality but pathophysiological explanations of these effects are not yet known.
