In and ex Vivo Mitochondrial Function of the Heart
Diabetes MellitusType 21 moreIt has been suggested that mitochondrial dysfunction might play a role in the development of diabetic cardiomyopathy. From animal studies, it has been suggested that an altered PPAR and PGC1 expression is involved in the reduced cardiac mitochondrial function, however human data on cardiac mitochondrial function and PPAR regulation is scarce. The latter is due to the fact that there is no validated measurement for assessing cardiac mitochondrial function non-invasively in vivo. It has been suggested that measuring PCr/ATP ratio with 31P-MRS in the heart reflects cardiac mitochondrial function. However, so far no direct validation of this method has been performed. The aim of this study will be to validate in vivo 31P-MRS with ex vivo measurements of mitochondrial function. To this end, the hypothesis is that in vivo 31P-MRS is a valid method for measuring cardiac mitochondrial function when compared with ex vivo mitochondrial respirometry.
Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Patients' Characteristics and Management by General Practitioners and Endocrinologists...
Type 2 Diabetes MellitusThis is a multi-centre observational, ambispective study, which will retrospectively and prospectively collect clinical variables and socio-demographic data from medical records of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) initiated with dapagliflozin by general practitioners (GPs) and endocrinologists in real-life setting. It is anticipated that patient recruitment will last 8 months (from Q3 2017 to Q1 2018) and each patient will be followed during the second visit 6±3 months later after the first visit. There are 2 time points: Baseline data: baseline data are defined as data available within 3 months prior to the first dose of dapagliflozin. In case of presence of multiple data values within baseline period the most recent pre-dose value will be selected Follow-up data: any post-baseline data will be considered as follow-up but the primary analysis will be focused on data available at 6±3 months after the first visit. In case of discontinuation dapagliflozin, data will be collected at routine visit within 3-month time frame after the last dose
Individual Patient Data Meta-analysis of CSII vs. MDI in Type 2 Diabetes
Diabetes MellitusType 2This study aims to compare glycaemic control during continuous subcutaneous insulin fusion (CSII, insulin pump therapy) and multiple daily insulin injections in type 2 diabetes and to identify patient-level characteristics that predict the best improvement in control and any change in insulin dose or other outcome.
Cohort Study of Pioglitazone and Cancer Incidence in Participants With Diabetes Mellitus.
Diabetes MellitusType 21 moreThe purpose of this study was to evaluate whether treatment with pioglitazone is associated with risk of incident cancer at the 10 most common sites in a cohort of participants with recognized diabetes.
Impact of a Multidisciplinary Therapeutic Education Program Being Set up for Patients With Type...
Diabetes MellitusType 21 moreTherapeutic education programs allows in diabetic patients to promote self-care and better perception of the disease The multidisciplinary program of therapeutic education regroups in one day: individual interview, nutritional workshop, self-monitoring blood glucose workshop, physical activity and glycemic objectives workshop. At the end of the program, individual and personalized goals are given to the patient. This study aims to evaluate this program success rates and the psychological, anamnesis, and sociological factors linked to success.
The Correlation Between the Pulmonary Function and Intrarenal Hemodynamics in 37 T2DM Patients in...
Diabetes MellitusType 2Objective: The main target of this study was to research the early changes in pulmonary function and intrarenal hemodynamics, then research the correlation between the pulmonary function and the renal hemodynamics in type 2 diabetes (T2DM) patients without diabetic kidney disease (DKD). Method: 37 T2DM patients (diabetes group) without DKD and 33 healthy people (control group) were choosed to research early changes in pulmonary function and intrarenal hemodynamics, then research the correlation between the pulmonary function and the renal blood flow in T2DM patients, all having normal renal function. The primary endpoints were the pulmonary function parameters (VC%, FVC%, FEV1%, PEF%, MVV%, TLC%, FEV1/FVC%, DLCO%, and DLCO/VA%); the secondary endpoints were the intrarenal hemodynamic (bilateral kidney RI) in bilateral interlobular renal arteries were evaluated using; the tertiary endpoints were the biochemical variables: blood-fat (TC, HDL-C, LDL-C, and TG), renal function parameters (BUN, Cr, and GFR); in addition, the albumin excrete rate (AER), urinary albumin/creatinine ratio (UACR) were measured.
Induction of Labour for LGA fœtus in Women Without Insulin-treated Diabetes.
MacrosomiaInduction of Labour1 moreA french study published in 2015 (DAME) showed a decrease of shoulder dystocia and an increase of spontaneous vaginal delivery when the non insulin-treated diabetes patients with large-for-date fetus were induced. This new protocole was introduced in Montpellier University Hospital delivery room. The aim of this study is to evaluate the protocole in Montpellier hospital and to compare our results with the DAME results.
Association Between Dietary Pattern and Glycemic Control Among Type 2 Diabetes Patients in the Unites...
Dietary HabitsPoor glycemic control in patients with Type 2 Diabetes (T2D) is due to multiple factors and suboptimal dietary pattern is one of them .Assessing eating/dietary patterns (combinations of different foods or food groups) among individuals with diabetes may be beneficial in understanding the focus areas of dietary modification among the Emirati community and further developing dietary interventions for management of T2D. Only a few observational studies are reported in this region exploring the eating practices, although none to the investigators knowledge described the frequency of consumption of food groups in the T2D patients in the United Arab Emirates(UAE). Hence, in this study the investigators aim to describe the trends in frequency of consumption of food groups and analyze the association of frequency of food item consumption and glycemic control among the T2D UAE patients. This retrospective cross sectional study will include the data from Hospital information system of 800+ T2D patients to describe the trends in frequency of consumption of food groups and analyze the possible association of frequency of food group/item consumption and glycemic control.
A Non-interventional Study of Ability and Willingness to Pay for BIAsp 30 in a Real World Population...
DiabetesDiabetes Mellitus1 moreThe purpose of this study is to collect information about the participant's ability and willingness to pay for NovoMix 30 using a modern device, which is prescribed to the participant by the study doctor for Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus according to routine clinical practice. The study aims to obtain data that can guide prescribers' understanding of the ability and willingness to pay for NovoMix 30 FlexPen or Penfill among participants in the growing middle class in India and Egypt. The decision to prescribe NovoMix 30 FlexPen or Penfill has been made independent from this study.
Characteristics of Patients With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (CVD-RNDR)
Type 2 DiabetesThis observational retrospective study will describe characteristics of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) who were initiating use or treatment with sodium-glucose co-transporter-2 (SGLT-2) inhibitors and other diabetes medications (other glucose lowering drugs) in 2015-17 based on National Russian Diabetes Registry data.
