Risk of Cardiovascular Events in Patients With Type 2 Diabetes Initiating Oral Antidiabetic Treatments...
Diabetes MellitusType 2The purpose of this study is to compare the incidence of major cardiovascular events among patients with type 2 diabetes who are new initiators of Saxagliptin and those who are new initiators of oral anti-diabetic drugs (OADs)in classes other than Dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPP4) inhibitors.
Risk of Acute Liver Failure Among Patients With Type 2 Diabetes Exposed to Oral Antidiabetic Treatments...
Diabetes MellitusType 2The purpose of this study is to compare the incidence of hospitalization with acute liver failure among patients with type 2 diabetes who are new users of Saxagliptin and those who are new users of other oral antidiabetic drugs.
The Aging Endocrine Pancreas: Characterization of the Entero-insular Axis Physiology in the Elderly...
Diabetes MellitusType 21 moreLike most endocrine axes, the entero-insular axis is expected to go through an age-related physiological deterioration, what might contribute to special features of the elderly onset type 2 diabetes in comparison to middle-age. Twenty four NGT volunteers will be evaluated by a meal tolerance test (MTT) for incretin hormone measurements, and by the hyperglycemic clamp followed by an arginine test for assessing the beta-cell function and the acute insulin response. Others parameters as body composition and basic biochemistry will be also evaluated at Laboratory of Investigation on Metabolism and Diabetes - LIMED / State university of Campinas, Brazil. The characterization of the glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) production, dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPP-IV) activity and/or endocrine pancreas incretin-response at aging, might be an interesting evidence to reinforce an incretin-based therapeutic approach for elderly onset type 2 diabetes.
Use of Continuous Glucose Monitoring Combined With Ambulatory Glucose Profiles to Characterize Glycemic...
Type 2 DiabetesObtain Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) data from individuals taking exenatide LAR, sitagliptin, or pioglitazone. The CGM measurements collected will help determine the characteristics of glucose control prior to treatment and during treatment.
Effect of Gastric Bypass on Patients With Type 2 Diabetes and/or Dyslipidemia
Type 2 DiabetesThis is a retrospective review of patients who have undergone bariatric surgery at VUMC and who have type 2 Diabetes and/or dyslipidemia. The investigators have previously found that gastric bypass significantly improves diabetes 6-12 months after surgery. The investigators are interested in looking at the longer term results after surgery.

DiabetesDiabetes Mellitus3 moreThis study is conducted in Asia. The aim of this observational study is to evaluate current status of diabetes management, control, and complications in diabetic subjects in Asia.
of PATient Education Related to CV Risk factOrs in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus(Patrol).
Low Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol Goal AchievementAn observational, non-interventional, multi-centre study to provide further information on the utility of test for a predictive marker by investigating the current prevalence of high sensitivity CRP (hs-CRP) testing and characteristics of each CVD risk group.
Cholesterol Metabolism and Lipid Transfer in Diabetes
Type 2 Diabetes MellitusThe diabetic dyslipidemia is one of the most important risk factor in the development of coronary artery disease. The low density lipoprotein (LDL)-like nanoemulsions is being used to study the clearance of cholesteryl ester and free cholesterol from intravascular in patients with advanced coronary artery disease and it was shown a higher removal of free cholesterol and higher deposit in vases of this patients. The aim of this study is to analyze the plasma kinetics of both forms of cholesterol(free ad esterified) in type 2 diabetes patients without a previous history of cardiovascular disease.
