The purpose of this study is to assess efficacy and safety of volinanserin in the population of patients complaining of sleep maintenance insomnia. The objective of the substudy is to assess glycemic control in the subgroup of patients with type II diabetes mellitus.

The aim of this research trial is to compare the efficacy of inhaled insulin to glimepiride and metformin combination therapy in treatment of subjects with type 2 diabetes and to verify the safety of use (hypoglycaemia, pulmonary function, body weight, insulin antibodies and side effects).

DiObex Inc. is developing an experimental drug (DIO-902) that is made up of part of the ketoconazole molecule for the treatment of elevated blood glucose associated with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Ketoconazole (Nizoral®) is a drug available by prescription for the treatment of fungal infections however DIO-902 is an investigational drug. DIO-902 may lower blood glucose by lowering levels of a naturally occurring hormone called cortisol. Elevated cortisol may contribute to the development of type 2 diabetes. The purpose of this research study is to test the safety of DIO-902 when taken by mouth with metformin and the cholesterol-lowering drug atorvastatin to determine the type and severity of any side effects from this treatment. Other purposes of the study are to see how the treatment affects your blood glucose levels, cholesterol levels, blood pressure, and waist circumference.

The purpose of this study is to help answer the following research question(s): To test if taking LY2599506 for 12 weeks controls blood sugar better than taking glyburide for 12 weeks. To evaluate the safety of LY2599506 in participants with diabetes. To determine if LY2599506 has the ability to control blood sugar in participants with diabetes. To determine how much LY2599506 should be given to participants. To determine if LY2599506 has an effect on a participant's weight. The study design consists of 4 study periods: a screening period, a 4-week dose adjustment period, an 8-week treatment period, and a 4-week follow up period.

A single dose study to assess the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics and pharmacokinetics of MK6349 in Type 2 Diabetics.

Low testosterone production, known clinically as hypogonadism, appears to be common complication of type 2 diabetes, affecting one in three diabetic men. Hypogonadism is known to be associated with decreased muscle mass, increased fat mass, increased inflammation and decreased fertility. In this grant, the investigators propose to study the effects of having low testosterone on 1) insulin sensitivity, the ability of the body to handle glucose 2) fat and muscle mass at specific areas of the body 3) expression of mediators of inflammation in the blood 4) semen quality. This study will compare diabetic men (with or without hypogonadism). This study will also evaluate the effect of treatment with clomiphene (a drug that increases testosterone and sperm production) or testosterone in men with diabetes and hypogonadism. The investigators hope that this project will help us understand the state of hypogonadism in young type 2 diabetic men who are in their peak fertility years and give us insights into treatment of this condition. With the rising prevalence of type 2 diabetes in the young, this project may have implications for public health.

The aim of this study is to examine the effects of ISIS 113715 monotherapy on insulin sensitivity, glucose and lipid metabolism and energy expenditure in subjects with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

The aim of this research study is to compare the efficacy of adding inhaled preprandial insulin to metformin compared to adding rosiglitazone to metformin for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and to verify its safety (hypoglycaemia, pulmonary function, body weight, insulin antibodies and side effects).

The purpose of this study, which is being conducted at 100 centers throughout the United States, is to determine whether Lantus, a long-acting insulin injection, either alone or in combination with metformin, is effective in reducing C-reactive protein (CRP) in adults with type 2 diabetes. CRP is a marker of chronic low-level inflammation, a new risk factor for diabetes, heart attack, stroke, and other cardiovascular events.

This is a long-term safety study for Phase 2 subjects who choose to remain on Exubera® (inhaled insulin).
