This study will evaluate the safety and efficacy of dutogliptin in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) who are receiving background treatment with pioglitazone.

The purpose of this trial is to test whether a drug called alefacept will slow or halt destruction of the beta cells in the pancreas. If the destruction of the beta cells is stopped, the patients might be able to produce insulin on their own longer, which could stop or slow the progression of their type 1 diabetes. This is a multi-center prospective, placebo-controlled, double-blind and randomized trial to investigate the ability of alefacept to protect residual beta cells from ongoing autoimmune destruction in adolescents and young adults with newly diagnosed Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus (T1DM).

This is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial evaluating the impact of sitagliptin therapy in patients with concomitant type 2 diabetes and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) on improving liver disease based on biopsy results. The effect of sitagliptin on other measures such as hormones modifying insulin release and sensitivity (termed adipocytokines), fat distribution, and biomarkers of cardiovascular risk will also be evaluated.

To compare in terms of HbA1c insulin naive patients with Type 2 Diabetes starting with insulin glargine on an algorithm with insulin naive patients starting with insulin glargine on the physician's standard practice. To compare the percentage of patients achieving HbA1c< 7% in each treatment group. To compare hypoglycaemic events (minor, severe and nocturnal) between groups. To compare average insulin dose between groups. To compare PRO (patients' reported outcomes) between groups. To compare mean changes in body weight between treatment groups.

This research project is supported by a multicentric network of collaborators whose goal is to assess the efficacy of transplanting allogenic pancreas islets to restore insulin secretion in patients with type 1, insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus with kidney transplantation and to improve their metabolic control.

Examine the effects of TI in combination with an anti-diabetic regimen including inhaled insulin versus anti-diabetic treatment without inhaled insulin on lung function & pulmonary safety

The purpose of this study is to advance the quality of care among inpatients with diabetes in the VHA. When patients with diabetes are admitted to the hospital, there is a greater chance that they will have a complication that lengthens their stay in the hospital. We are testing whether managing their diabetes before admission makes a difference in occurrence of in-hospital complications.
