Efficacy and Safety of Insulin Degludec/Insulin Aspart in Insulin-naïve Subjects With Type 2 Diabetes...

DiabetesDiabetes Mellitus1 more

This trial is conducted in Asia and North America. The aim of this trial is to compare the efficacy and safety of insulin degludec/insulin aspart (IDegAsp) once daily in insulin-naïve subjects with type 2 diabetes mellitus when using two different titration algorithms (dose individually adjusted) as add-on to subject's ongoing treatment with metformin.

Resolution of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: Intensive vs. Conventional Glycaemic Control After Obesity...

Type 2 Diabetes MellitusObesity

Obesity surgery is very effective in improving or even curing Type 2 Diabetes in patients with obesity. Many patients stop or reduce their medication after surgery and this can happen fairly quickly. The investigators do not know whether strict control of blood glucose/sugar after the operation makes any difference in the long term. Additionally many patients prefer their blood sugars to be a "bit high" because they are afraid of hypos.A number of studies have described patients whose eye, nerve and kidney disease has deteriorated when high sugars are controlled very quickly. The investigators want to ensure that surgery provides maximum benefit and remains safe in patients with diabetes. This study will help us decide if the investigators should be strict with blood glucose after obesity surgery operations or not and whether obesity surgery is safe for the eye, nerve and kidney complications of diabetes.

Glycemic Control, Safety and Tolerability of TC-6987 Monotherapy in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

TC-6987 is a selective nicotinic α-7 receptor ligand (open channel stabilizer) that has demonstrated potent anti-inflammatory/antioxidant properties in animal models. Following the oral administration of a 1mg/kg dose of TC-6987 to diabetic mice (db/db mouse) for 7 weeks, numerous metabolic improvements were observed. Specifically, plasma glucose and triglyceride concentrations declined by approximately 30%; Hb1Ac was reduced by nearly 50%; and TNF-α declined more than 60% relative to control db/db mice Therefore, it appears that TC-6987 could prove beneficial in reducing elevated glucose concentrations in diabetic patients as well as in ameliorating organ damage associated with inflammation, oxidative stress and hyperglycemia.

African American Children, Glycemic Control, and Type 2 Diabetes

Type 2 DiabetesVitamin D Deficiency

Using a randomized, placebo-controlled trial design in subjects with vitamin D deficiency, the investigators propose to determine if vitamin D treatment improves glycemic control in vitamin D deficient subjects with T2DM. The investigators hypothesize that oral vitamin D treatment will improve glycemic control and ß-cell function in vitamin D deficient AA subjects with T2DM. The investigators further hypothesize that maintaining serum 25(OH)D concentrations above 20 ng/ml with oral supplementation of vitamin D will have additional glycemic control effects.

Comparing the Efficacy and Safety of NN1250 Once Daily When Titrated Using 2 Different Algorithms...

DiabetesDiabetes Mellitus1 more

This trial is conducted in Europe and the United States of America (USA). The aim of this trial is to compare the efficacy and safety of NN1250 (insulin degludec (IDeg)) once daily in insulin naïve subjects with type 2 diabetes mellitus when titrated using two different self-titration algorithms (dose individually adjusted) in combination with metformin.
