The Impact of Food Order on Glycemic Excursions in Type 2 Diabetes Assessed by Continuous Glucose...
Type 2 DiabetesThe purpose of this study is to explain the effect of food order/nutrient sequencing on glycemic excursions over a 2 week period, utilizing a device known as a continuous glucose monitor (CGM), for people who have been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and treated with metformin. This research study is being done because recent studies demonstrate that besides carbohydrate amount and type, the sequential order of macronutrient consumption during a meal has a significant impact on post-meal glucose levels.
Chiglitazar Added to Metformin for Type 2 Diabetes
Type 2 DiabetesThe purpose of the trial is to evaluate the effect of Chiglitazar added to metformin to type 2 diabetes Inadequately controlled with metformin Monotherapy.
Semaglutide Effects in Obese Youth With Prediabetes/New Onset Type 2 Diabetes and Non-Alcoholic...
Type 2 Diabetes MellitusImpaired Glucose Tolerance3 moreThe purpose of this study is to understand the role of GLP-1 in the pathogenesis of T2D in youth and explore their potential salutary effects and ability to delay the progressive loss of ß-cell function and reduce hepatic steatosis in youth with prediabetes/new onset T2D and NAFLD.
Krill Oil and Muscle Weakness in Type 2 Diabetes
Diabetes MellitusType 2The age-related loss of muscle mass and function, sarcopenia, has several deleterious effects, such as a reduction in the quality of life and an increase in the incidence of falls, often leading to hospitalisation. The prevalence of sarcopenia is unclear but is estimated to be between 4.6 and 7.9% and the loss of skeletal muscle mass and function is accelerated in people with type 2 diabetes. With the percentage of older people and the percentage of people with type 2 diabetes predicted to rise in coming years it is crucial to develop therapies to increase muscle mass and function. Alterations in nutrition have also been suggested to be of therapeutic use in sarcopenia. Epidemiological data showed that the consumption of fatty fish is positively associated with muscle function in older population, indicating a potential role for long-chain n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (LCn-3 PUFA) in increasing muscle mass and function in older people. The aim of the current study, therefore, is to determine the effects of krill oil supplementation on muscle size and function in adults with muscle weakness and type 2 diabetes.
Effect of a Dietary Intervention on Insulin Requirements in Type 1 Diabetes
Diabetes MellitusType 1The purpose of this study is to compare the effects of a low-fat, plant-based dietary intervention and a portion-controlled dietary intervention (compliant with current American Diabetes Association (ADA) guidelines) on the management of type 1 diabetes in adults. The primary outcome measure of this study is insulin requirements (measured as the total daily dose (TDD) of insulin or basal and bolus insulin units injected per day). The study duration is 12 weeks.
Changing Health Through Food Support for Diabetes
Type 2 DiabetesFood InsecurityThis is a pragmatic randomized controlled trial (RCT) of Changing Health through Food Support for Diabetes (CHEFS-DM). This pragmatic RCT will leverage Project Open Hand's (POH) real-world programs to test the impact of a six month medically tailored food support and nutrition intervention ("CHEFS-DM") on glycemic control and other cardiometabolic outcomes, investigate the paths through which CHEFS-DM may durably improve health, and assess the economic value of the intervention to society.
Mindfulness-Based Diabetes Education for Adults With Elevated Diabetes Distress
Type 2 DiabetesDiabetes distress is common affecting over one-third of people with type 2 diabetes, negatively impacting self-management and outcomes, and disproportionately affecting low-income individuals. The proposed project will conduct a pilot randomized controlled trial comparing Mindfulness-Based Diabetes Education to standard Diabetes Self-Management Education in adults with type 2 diabetes and elevated diabetes distress who receive care within safety-net healthcare systems in order to assess feasibility and acceptability.
Safety and Feasibility of Novel Therapy for Duodenal Mucosal Regeneration for Type II Diabetes
DiabetesDiabetes Type 26 moreThis is a multi-center, open-label study to assess the feasibility and preliminary safety of the Endogenex Device for endoscopic duodenal mucosal regeneration in patients with type 2 Diabetes inadequately controlled on 2-3 non-insulin glucose-lowering medications.
Effects of GABAA Receptor Modulation by AP-325 on Insulin Secretion in Patients With Type 2 Diabetes...
Type2 DiabetesThe aim of this single-center, prospective, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, 2-arm parallel-group interventional study is to investigate the effect of 4-week treatment with AP-325 on C-peptide release as measure of insulin secretion compared to placebo in type 2 diabetes (T2D) patients.
Comparison of CSII and MDI in Pediatric Patients With Type 1 Diabetes
Type 1 DiabetesProspective, randomized, open-label, two-sequence crossover study to investigate the effects of continuous subcutaneous insulin injection (CSII, using DIA:CONN G8 insulin pump) in pediatric patients with type 1 diabetes using multiple daily insulin (MDI) injection
