A Study on the Safety and Efficacy of Nitric Oxide Gel in Subjects With Painful Diabetic Neuropathy...

Neuropathic Pain

This is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, 2-period crossover, 12-week trial to be conducted in 50 subjects with painful diabetic neuropathy. The objective of this trial is to assess the safety and efficacy of NO gel, a NO donor, as compared with a placebo gel, in symptom relief of subjects with painful diabetic neuropathy.

A Research Study of V3381 for the Treatment of Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathic Pain

PainDiabetic Neuropathies

The objective of this study is to investigate the safety and efficacy of an investigational drug, V3381, for the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathic (DPN) pain (pain in one's feet and legs, or even in one's hands and arms, sometimes experienced by people with diabetes). An investigational drug is one that is not approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and/or Health Canada.

A Trial to Assess the Efficacy and Safety of 400mg/Day Lacosamide in Subjects With Painful Diabetic...

Painful Diabetic Neuropathy

The purpose of this trial is to assess whether 400mg/day of lacosamide is effective in reducing pain caused by distal diabetic neuropathy. Two dose-escalation schemes for lacosamide will be used to further determine the efficacy of the "standard" scheme and to evaluate the efficacy and safety of a more rapid titration scheme. Subjects will be randomly assigned to one of three treatment groups. Subjects in two of the groups will receive lacosamide at a dose of 400mg/day, but different dose-escalation schemes will be used to reach this final dose. The third group of subjects will receive a placebo. Subjects will have a 2 in 3 (66 %) chance of getting lacosamide. The maximum lacosamide dose in this trial will be 400mg/day. The maximum treatment duration will be 18 weeks, including a two-week Pre-Treatment Phase and a 12 weeks period on a stable dose of lacosamide or placebo.

A Trial to Assess the Efficacy and Safety of SPM 927 (Lacosamide) in Subjects With Painful Distal...

Diabetic Neuropathy

This trial was conducted at about 50 sites in Europe and has been clinically completed. Patients had symptoms of painful diabetic neuropathy for 6 months up to 5 years with an optimized diabetic control and at least moderate pain. Patients were not eligible with other chronic pain or any other medical or psychiatric condition, that would have jeopardized or compromised the patient's ability to participate in the trial. After a 2-week run-in phase patients were randomly assigned to one of three treatment arms. All patients who had completed the 6-week titration phase to reach their target dose entered a 12-week maintenance phase. At the end of the maintenance phase, subjects were offered the option of entering the open-label, follow-on trial. The change in pain was measured daily as well as interference of pain with sleep and general activity.
