Balloon Dilation of the Eustachian Tube in Children

Glue EarTube Disorders Eustachian

Otitis media with effusion (OME) is very common in children and characterized by fluid in the middle ear without signs or symptoms of acute ear infection. Treatment options are tympanostomy tubes and/or adenoidectomy. However OME often reoccurs after these procedures. Goal of this study will be to evaluate the Balloon Eustachian Tuboplasty (BET) in children as an additional treatment option and to assess long-term effects of BET. Beside the standard procedure, children (4 to 10 years of age), with equal pathology on both ears, will be assigned for BET on side.

The Effect of Different Duration of Bolloon Dilation During ESBD

Common Bile Duct Stones

Limited endoscopic sphincterotomy with balloon dilation(ESBD)is a promising technique in treating common bile duct stones. It had the similar success rate of stone extraction, but its incidence of complications remained uncertain. However, there is no clinical evidence and guideline to define the optimal duration of balloon dilation so far. So we designed a prospective randomized trial to compare the effect of three different duration of balloon dilation during ESBD so that we can find the optimal duration of the balloon dilation.

Restenosis Intrastent: Bioresorbable Vascular Scaffolds Treatment With Scoring Balloon Pre-dilatation...

Coronary In-stent Restenosis

Treatment of patients with in-stent restenosis (ISR) remains a challenge. This study will assess the efficacy of Bioresorbable Vascular Scaffolds (BVS) (Abbott Vascular) in the treatment of patients suffering from ISR after scoring balloon pre-dilatation.

Collagen Crosslinking With Ultraviolet-A in Asymmetric Corneas (2)

KeratoconusEctasia1 more

To evaluate the efficacy of ultraviolet-A (UVA)-induced cross-linking of corneal collagen (CXL) as a method to increase the biomechanical and biochemical stability of the cornea by inducing additional cross-links within or between collagen fibers using UVA light and the photo- mediator riboflavin. The purpose of this study is to generate data for presentation at medical meetings and for peer-review publication

Nebivolol Versus Losartan Versus Nebivolol+Losartan Against Aortic Root Dilation in Genotyped Marfan...

Marfan Syndrome

The major clinical problems in patients with Marfan Syndrome (MFS) are aortic root dilation (ARD), dissection and rupture. Although the available treatments (beta-blockers, BBs) improve the evolution of the disease, they do not protect MFS patients from progression of ARD and dissection. A key molecule that negatively influences cell growth, differentiation, survival and death in MFS is TGFb which is antagonised by existing drugs employed in the clinical practice, the Angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARB).

A Randomized Comparison of Laparoscopic Myotomy and Pneumatic Dilatation for Achalasia

Esophageal Achalasia

The purpose of this study is to compare pneumatic dilatation and laparoscopic Heller myotomy in patients with achalasia in order to learn which of these two treatments should be recommended to patients in the future.

Comparison Between Two Different Distention Medium in Diagnostic Hysteroscopy

HysteroscopyDistension Medium1 more

The investigators aim to enroll 2000 patients to undergo diagnostic hysteroscopy for suspected uterine pathologies. Women will be randomized into two groups on the basis of distension medium : group A CO2; group B physiological solution. Pain discomfort will be evaluated after the examination.

Anxiety Scores With Media Based Patient Education Before Dilatation and Curettage

Abnormal Uterine BleedingAnxiety

Subjects with abnormal uterine bleeding and scheduled for dilatation and curettage (D&C) will be randomized to a multimedia-based education (MME group) or verbal information (Control group ) before (D&C). State-Trait Anxiety Inventory will be asked by the nursing staff before and after multimedia-based education or verbal information to all patients. Then the patients will undergo (D&C) at an office setting. The impact of MME on patient anxiety will be evaluated by statistical analysis.

Post-dilatation for Optimization of Drug-eluting Stents (DES) Deployment Assessed by Intravascular...

Implant

Comparison with use of Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS) analysis of two methods of percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) with drug eluting stent: After successful drug eluting stent implantation, patients were randomized into two groups: Group A had no further dilatation, and Group B had additional post-dilatation with a noncompliant balloon. The investigators performed IVUS analysis in groups A and B just before randomization and after post-dilatation in group B.
