Comparision Of The Effectiveness Of Physiotherapy Methods

Cerebral Palsy

A total of 28 patients who were followed-up in our clinic and received botulinum toxin injection of lower extremities in the last month were randomized to two groups in the study. Group 1 received conventional physiotherapy and Group 2 received robot-assisted gait training. The treatment period was 30 min/day, five sessions in a week, 15 sessions in total, for both groups. The study population was evaluated using range of joint motion evaluation chart, the Modified Ashworth Scale, The Gross Motor Function Classification System, The Berg Balance Scale, the functional independence measure for children, and the Edinburgh Visual Gait Score

Reliability of a Body-worn Sensor System for Gait Analysis in Children With CP

Cerebral palsy (CP) is caused by a non-progressive injury in the developing brain, which leads to problems in functional mobility, posture, neuro musculoskeletal functions and gait. Around 75% of children with CP are ambulatory however they have gait problems such as excessive knee flexion, stiff knee, crouch gait or equinus which affects the quality of gait. When constructing an effective treatment plan in children with CP, a comprehensive assessment should be performed. One of the most essential assessments is gait analysis. Gait analysis is used in the quantitative assessment of gait disturbances providing functional diagnosis, assessment for treatment, planning, and monitoring of progress. Gait analysis aims to determine the factors leading to gait disturbances. To reach this aim, a large amount of quantitative data concerning the gait characteristics of a patient is analyzed. The assessment of these data can be performed via standardized clinical videos, recorded with numerical video cameras used in conjunction with optical 3D systems. The purpose of this study was to confirm the test-retest reliability of a commercially available body-worn sensor- G-Walk® sensor system-for spatiotemporal gait parameters in children with CP.

Unilateral Spastic Cerebral Palsy

Cerebral Palsy, in particular in its unilateral spastic form (uCP), is the main cause of motor disability in children, with a prevalence of 2/1000 births. These children have upper limb motor impairments that hinder the realization of activities of daily life in bimanual situations. 3D motion analysis (3DMA) is an objective and precise tool, considered as the gold standard for gait analysis. The existing 3DMA protocols consist of movements too standardized, in unimanual situations away from gestures of everyday life, or have not been validated in bimanual situations. In a preliminary study, a 3DMA bimanual protocol was study. it was composed of 4 tasks integrated into a game scenario to have more spontaneity of movements, similar to those experienced by children in daily life. It allows the exploration of all degrees of freedom of the upper limb. Acceptability and Tolerance Study of a Low Calorie Peptide Based Paediatric Tube Feed Formula.

This is an acceptability study to evaluate the gastrointestinal tolerance and compliance over a seven-day period, of a low calorie paediatric peptide based tube feed formula for the dietary management of participants with short bowel syndrome; intractable malabsorption; preoperative preparation of undernourished patients; inflammatory bowel disease; total gastrectomy; dysphagia; bowel fistulae; The acceptability data from 15 participants will be collected in order to submit an application to the Advisory Committee on Borderline Substances (ACBS).

The results of this study will have direct clinical impact by equipping providers with the necessary information to counsel families during medical decision making.

Cerebral palsy (CP) is a chronic condition that causes the most childhood disabilities on worldwide. Impairment in movement and posture development seen in children with CP it causes difficulties in performing activities and affect in emotional, social, and cognitive abilities cause limited participation in everyday life. The ICF-CY child is divided into five categories: body structure and functions, activities, participation, environmental and personal factors, it is treated holistically. Initially, children with CP have adopted the view that environmental factors can also affect functionality, while focusing on the treatment of motor disorders to reduce activity and participation limitations in physiotherapy and rehabilitation applications. Environmental factors; the environment in which the child lives, his family, the devices he uses, health and care services, and government policies. These factors vary according to each country's own cultural and economic opportunities. The investigator planned to do this study because we found that there is a need for a comprehensive study of children with SP in Turkey, which does not reveal the relationship between environmental factors and activity and level of participation.

Cerebral palsy (CP) is a non-progressive disturbance in the development of movement and posture that occurs in the prenatal or postnatal period, causing activity limitations. Most children and adolescents with CP experience limitations in their walking skills. Restrictions in the walking ability of children with CP are an important issue for both parents and healthcare professionals involved in their treatment. The evaluation of walking is of great importance in terms of determining the effectiveness of the physiotherapy program, shaping the program, planning orthopedic and surgical applications, and determining the effectiveness, especially in children with CP who have walking potential. In the literature, easy-to-use, valid and reliable observational gait analysis that can evaluate gait pathologies and clinical gait in children with CP are emphasized. These measurements are of great importance in clinical practice.The ability of backward walking gives the child a different task than normal, allowing the observation of body perception, trunk stability provided by anterior-posterior co-contractions, balance, correction and protective reactions.
