Results of Mini-open Discectomy According to Sagittal Profile

Displacement of Intervertebral Disc Without Myelopathy

In the normal healthy population, the sagittal alignment can be divided into four types based on the size of the sacral slope and lumbar lordosis. The effect of this sagittal profile especially type 2 with almost straight lordosis on the clinical outcomes of patients after mini-open discectomy is unknown. In this study, the results of patients who underwent mini-open discectomy were evaluated according to sagittal profile types of the patients.

Balance Performance in Dual Task in Patients With Cervical Disc Herniation Related Chronic Neck...

Cervical PainPostural Balance

Intense pain and moderate disability are seen most patients with symptomatic cervical disc herniation (CDH). Since neck motion and motor control are associated with changes in neck pain and disability, it is highly likely that patients with neck pain related disability would display dual-task interference (DTI) during postural control with a cognitive task. It is very important for patients with cervical disk herniation to perform more than one task at the same time for many activities of daily living. Therefore, the aim of this study was to compare balance performance in dual task between patients with CDH related chronic neck pain and asymptomatic controls.

Epiduroscopic Laser Discectomy Procedures

DiscHerniated

Epiduroscopy or spinal endoscopy is the imaging of the epidural space using a percutaneous and minimally invasive fiberoptic imaging device. The definitive diagnosis and treatment of chronic pain is increasingly prevalent with epiduroscopy. Recently, as a result of these studies it has been reported that laser therapy with epiduroscopy applied discectomy during multiple lesions. Investigators aimed to retrospectively investigate the efficacy of epiduroscopic discectomy procedures performed at the Algology Clinic.

A Questionnaire Survey Study for Exploring Outcomes for Patients With Disc Herniation

Lumbar Disc Herniation

Background: The selection of primary outcomes that reflect the real symptoms and conditions of patients is instrumental in clinical studies on the effectiveness of specific treatment modalities. This study aimed to explore the appropriate outcomes that reflect the real-world needs and concerns of patients with lumbar disc herniation (LDH) and provide a basis for designing related clinical trials. Methods and Findings: This cross-sectional nationwide web-based survey study was conducted in South Korea in November 2022. Patients who were diagnosed with LDH and had LDH-related radiating leg pain were enrolled. The questionnaire consisted of 5 parts: basic characteristics, disease onset, symptom and severity, priority symptoms for improvement, and important factors in treatment. Overall, 500 patients (100 patients from the each age group) were enrolled.

Does Teicoplanin Powder Use In Lumbar Instrumentation Surgery Reduce Surgical Site Infection

Lumbar Spinal StenosisLumbar Disc Herniation3 more

Infection after spinal surgery is one of the serious complications. Spinal surgery infection can cause high morbidity, mortality, and costs. In spite of different prophylactic methods, up to 15% of infection appears after spinal surgery. Vancomycin powder, which is one of the most applied methods, seems to be effective and inexpensive. However, vancomycin administration may be inconvenient in elderly participants with high comorbidity and especially kidney problems. The investigators aimed to reduce the rate of infection in the post-op 90-day period by adding per-op Teicoplanin powder onto the implant in participants scheduled for lumbar posterior instrumentation.
