Bupivacaine Injection of Eye Muscles to Treat Strabismus

StrabismusEsotropia4 more

This study seeks to determine if bupivacaine injection of eye muscles can make them stronger and stiffer, and thereby correct the position of eyes that are turned in or mis-aligned, a condition generally termed strabismus. It seeks further to find out the different effects of various concentrations or formulations of bupivacaine, and whether addition of Botox to other eye muscles can add to the effect of bupivacaine and enhance the correction of strabismus.

Bil. LR Rec. Using Standard Tables VS Reduced Numbers in Intermittent Exo. in Children Under 6

Alternating Exotropia

comparing the motor alignment and the incidence of postoperative esotropia following the correction of intermittent exotropia in children below 7 years by bilateral lateral rectus recession using the standard recession tables postulated by Parks versus correction using a reduced recession by one millimeter

Comparison of Medial Rectus Resection and Plication in Exotropic Patients

Exotropia

Purpose: To determine the surgical outcomes of the plication technique in comparison with the resection method on exotropic patients. Methods: In this randomized clinical trial, a total of 52 exotropic patients (female, 51.9%) who are candidate for medial rectus strengthening will be randomly classified into plication (n=24) and resection (n=28) groups. The comprehensive visual and ocular examinations will be performed on all study subjects and they will be followed- up for three months postoperatively. Plication technique is the same as resection up to muscle suturing, in the next step, the sutures are passed through 2 scleral bites at 1 mm anterior to the muscle insertion, then the muscle was folded toward inside or outside by pulling and joining the sutures.

Monitored Controlled Intermittent Alternate Occlusion (CIAO) Therapy for Intermittent Exotropia...

Intermittent Exotropia

This study presents an opportunity to understand a novel, previously unreported controlled intermittent alternate occlusion (CIAO) therapy glasses, which may improve the control of Intermittent exotropia (IXT).

A Novel Diagnostic Method for Exotropia Using Video-oculography

StrabismusExotropia

Thirty-four subjects with constant exotropia were included. Two independent ophthalmologists measured the angle of ocular deviation using alternate prism cover test (APCT). The video files and data with the changes in ocular deviation during the alternate cover test were obtained using video-oculography (VOG). To verify the accuracy of VOG, Investigator compared the value obtained using VOG and the angle of a rotating model eye, and subsequently made a new linear equation using these data. The calculated values obtained using VOG were compared with those obtained using APCT to determine the diagnostic accuracy of VOG.

Strabismus Surgery and Driving Ability

StrabismusEsotropia1 more

The strabismus impacts binocular visual acuity and stereoscopy. Thus, driving capacities of patients with strabismus may be reduced. The goal of this work is to study the possible amelioration of driving ability after strabismus surgery and to compare the driving capacities of patients with strabismus to a normal population; Patients will be tested before and after strabismus surgery using a driving simulator, binocular visual field and binocular visual acuity.

Lateral Rectus Muscle and Anterior Segment Optical Coherence Tomography (AS-OCT)

Intermittent Exotropia

•Background and study aims : The investigators conducted this study to evaluate the movement of extraocular muscle after strabismus surgery with non-invasive tool called AS-OCT. Who can participate? patients who underwent typical lateral rectus recession surgery for correcting intermittent exotropia What does the study involve? Volunteers will attend a clinic for four visits over six months. They will undergo AS-OCT at every visits during follow up period. AS-OCT is non-invasive test to evaluate operation site. The test only requires their cooperation when they undergo AS-OCT. What are the possible benefits and risks of participating? This is non-invasive test for your postoperative follow up. Therefore, there will be no risks about this test. Where is the study run from? Samsung Medical Center When is the study starting and how long is it expected to run for? From Feb 2014 to Dec 2014

A Novel Dynamic Random-dot Stereopsis Assessment to Measure the Stereopsis in Intermittent Exotropia...

Dynamic Stereopsis in Intermittent Exotropia Patients

A novel dynamic random-dot stereopsis test that included motion + disparity (MD), motion (M), and disparity (D), in which the disparity cues range from 200 to 1200 arc-seconds was used. The characteristics of preoperative dynamic stereopsis in 83 intermittent exotropia patients and its associations with clinical features were analysed, and the prognosis was followed up on the 1st day and 2nd, 6th and 12nd months postoperatively.
