Evaluation of Ocular Surface in Hemodialysis Patients by Ocular Surface Analyzer

HemodialysisOcular Surface Disease2 more

We clinically observed that some hemodialysis patients had corneal epithelial dryness, shedding, edema, and persistent epithelial nonunion after ocular surgery, which seriously affected the effect of surgery, and it is necessary to study the ocular surface characteristics of hemodialysis patients. In this study, we examined the ocular surface and analyzed and investigated the characteristics of the ocular surface in hemodialysis patients to provide a basis for ocular surface intervention or treatment in hemodialysis patients before ocular surgery in clinical practice.

CXCL9, CXCL10, CXCL11, and CXCR3 in Dry Eye Syndrome

Dry Eye Syndrome

The aim of this study is to investigate the expression of CXCL9, CXCL10, CXCL11, and CXCR3 in the tear film and ocular surface of patients with dry eye syndrome. Thirty-three patients with dry eye (16 Sjögren's syndrome and 17 non-Sjögren's syndrome patients) and 15 control subjects were recruited. The concentrations of CXCL9, CXCL10, and CXCL11 in tears were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The correlation between chemokine levels and tear film and ocular surface parameters was analyzed. Expression of CXCL9, CXCL10, CXCL11, and CXCR3 in the conjunctiva was evaluated using immunohistochemistry. Flow cytometry was performed to count CXCR3+ cells and CXCR3+CD4+ cells in the conjunctiva.

Intense Pulsed Light in Meibomian Gland Dysfunctions

Dry Eye SyndromesMeibomian Gland Dysfunction

Dry eye disease (DED) is an extremely common disease whose meibomian gland dysfunction is the main etiology. Polychromatic intense pulsed light (IPL) is a promising new therapeutic alternative but few clinical data have been published. A new IPL device has recently been marketed: LACRYSTIM (QUANTEL, France). The investigators have been using it in our clinical practice since June 2019. The investigators present a retrospective study on our first clinical results.
