Liver and Intrahepatic Bile Duct Carcinoma

This trial studies the use of computed tomography (CT) perfusion scans in detecting changes in blood flow to the liver after portal vein embolization in patients with liver cancer. CT perfusion scans use a standard contrast drug given by vein to measure blood flow to the liver. CT perfusion scans may predict the rate and amount of growth of new, healthy tissue on one side of the liver after a portal vein embolization and detect change to the size of the liver tumor as result of the procedure.

Accelerated Partial Breast Irradiation Following Lumpectomy for Breast Cancer

To determine whether an accelerated course of radiotherapy delivered to the lumpectomy cavity plus margin using IORT as a single dose, intracavitary brachytherapy with the MammoSite device over 5 days, partial breast 3-D CRT in 5 days, or stereotactic APBI over 4 days is a feasible and safe alternative to a six and a half week course of whole breast radiotherapy. The study will measure both short and long-term complications of radiation treatment, short and long-term breast cosmesis, local rates of in-breast cancer recurrence, regional recurrences, distant metastases, and overall survival.

Ductal Carcinoma in Situ

The goal of this trial is to see if active surveillance monitoring and hormonal therapy in patients diagnosed with ductal cell carcinoma in situ (DCIS), an early stage of breast cancer, can be an effective management of the disease. Participants will be asked to receive standard of care hormonal therapy or an investigational treatment. Participants will be asked to return for evaluation with MRI at three months and six months. Depending on the evaluation participants will have the option to continue on the treatment. If the evaluation suggests surgery is recommended, the participant will discontinue the study treatment and will undergo surgery. In addition to the treatment and MRI evaluation, participants will be asked to provide blood sample to understand their immune status, provide saliva sample for genetic testing, provide the study with a portion of the tissue or slides generated from tissue removed during surgery performed as part of their standard of care.

This study investigates the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on out-of-pocket costs, lost wages, and unemployment in patients with breast cancer undergoing breast surgery. Post-mastectomy reconstructive patients are at high risk for financial toxicity (adverse effects of escalating health care cost on well-being). The goal of this study is to collect information about financial costs patients may have as a result of surgical treatment for cancer with or without breast reconstruction and to learn if COVID-19 affects patient costs of breast reconstruction. This may help researchers demonstrate the financial consequences of undergoing breast surgery.

Nelipepimut-S Plus GM-CSF Vaccine Therapy in Treating Patients With Breast Cancer

Breast Ductal Carcinoma In Situ

This phase II trial studies how well nelipepimut-S plus GM-CSF vaccine therapy or sargramostim works in treating patients with breast cancer. Vaccines made from peptide or antigen and/or a person's white blood cells mixed with tumor proteins may help the body build an effective immune response to kill tumor cells that express breast cancer antigens. It is not yet known whether nelipepimut-S plus GM-CSF vaccine or sargramostim is more effective in treating patients with breast cancer.

*REFERRALS TO THIS TRIAL MUST BE THROUGH BREAST CARE CLINICIANS ONLY* RATIONALE: Diagnostic procedures, such as contrast-enhanced MRI, may help find and diagnose ductal carcinoma in situ. PURPOSE: This study is to develop and refine magnetic resonance (MR) imaging methods for pre-operative staging of ductal carcinoma in situ, a pre-invasive form of breast cancer, and atypical ductal hyperplasia, a risk factor for developing cancer.
