Study of Hesperidin Therapy on COVID-19 Symptoms (HESPERIDIN)

Covid19Anosmia19 more

The main aim of this study is to determine the effects of short-term treatment with hesperidin on COVID-19 symptoms in comparison with a placebo. Treatment effects will be observed through a symptoms diary that will be completed by participants throughout the study and by taking the oral temperature daily.

Effectiveness of an Exercise Re-training Program on Dyspnea in Patients After Acute Respiratory...

Dyspnea

Dyspnea is defined by a subjective sensation of respiratory discomfort, the intensity of which varies according to the terrain, the anamnesis and the cause. Resuscitation is associated with many causes of dyspnea, including initial distress, mechanical ventilation, or after-effects following the pathology and its management. Respiratory distress is the most severe form of impaired lung function. It is the first cause of hospitalization in intensive care. This distress, indicative of the failure of the respiratory system, is always severe and potentially fatal. It therefore constitutes an absolute therapeutic emergency. Dyspnea is often the revealing symptom of the condition and the urgency surrounding its management is an additional factor of concern for the patient. As a result, dyspnea is a pejorative element associated with severity or even death.

Effect of Desmopressin on Platelet Function in CKD Patients on Antiplatelet Drug

BleedingTachycardia1 more

Prolonged Collagen/Epinephrine - closure time (CEPI-CT) indicates platelet dysfunction in CKD patients taking antiplatelet agent. The synthetic vasopressin derivative, Desmopressin (DDAVP) shortens the prolonged bleeding time and improves platelet dysfunction measured by in vitro closure time: CEPI-CT in uremic patients. Desmopressin also antagonizes the in vitro platelet dysfunction induced by GPIIb/IIIa inhibitors, clopidogrel and aspirin. The investigators designed a prospective study to evaluate the effect of desmopressin on platelet function, as measured by in vitro collagen/epinephrine - closure time, in uremic patients who were taking antiplatelet drugs.

Targeting Acute Congestion With Tolvaptan in Congestive Heart Failure

Heart FailureDyspnea

The primary objective of this study is to compare the effects of oral Tolvaptan vs. placebo as an adjunct to fixed dose IV furosemide on dyspnea relief in patients with acute decompensated heart failure The primary hypothesis is that the addition of oral Tolvaptan to fixed dose furosemide will be more effective at relieving dyspnea than fixed dose furosemide alone

Ranolazine in Ischemic Cardiomyopathy

CardiomyopathyChest Pain1 more

Patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy may continue to experience persistent chest pain and shortness of breath despite conventional medical therapy and/or revascularization. The purpose of this study is to determine the efficacy of taking Ranexa versus placebo in patients with ischemic (due to blockages) cardiomyopathy treated with optimal conventional medical therapy and/or percutaneous revascularization.

Effect of Inhaled Fentanyl on Dyspnea and Exercise Tolerance in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease...

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

Breathing discomfort (dyspnea) and activity limitation are dominant symptoms of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and contribute to poor health-related quality of life in this population. Several small, uncontrolled studies and published case reports have provided evidence that inhaled fentanyl, a powerful pain relieving (opioid) medication, may be used to effectively reduce breathing discomfort in patients with advanced disease. However, the mechanisms of this improvement remain unclear. Therefore, the investigators plan to conduct the first randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, crossover study designed to explore the possible mechanisms of action of inhaled fentanyl on activity-related dyspnea and exercise performance in patients with advanced COPD.
