The model of care for forensic psychiatry in Italy was changed by law (Law 81/2014) so that the six legacy secure forensic hospitals (Judicial Psychiatric Hospitals, OPG) were closed and new secure community residences for the execution of security measures (REMS) were opened in each of the 20 regions of Italy. This transition was in place by 2015. This observational study evaluates the health gains for patients both previously in OPGs and those admitted first to REMS. Health gains assessed include recovery measured by symptoms, function, need for therapeutic security and recovery of legal autonomy.

This is an investigation into the associations between psychopathic traits, autistic traits and empathy (cognitive and affective) in the general population as measured using three self report questionnaires and one behavioural task. Participants will also be genotyped for OXTR rs53576 to assess whether this mutation associates with any of the behavioural traits investigated.

There is clear evidence that aggressive behavior and disruptive behavior disorders (DBD) in middle childhood are associated with an increased risk for substance abuse in adolescence. However, the exact underlying mechanism of this increased risk is unknown. It is likely that a biopsychological vulnerability in some aggressive children and children with DBD makes them liable to substance use and abuse. The investigators hypothesize that deficient decision making is such a biopsychological factor. In this study the investigators aim to test the latter hypothesis by investigating the decision making ability in a group of adolescents with DBD with and without substance use disorders. Decision-making is assessed with the IOWA Gambling Task (GT). This task mimics real-life situations in the way it factors uncertainty, reward and punishment. The GT is specifically designed to assess impaired decision-making in individuals who are unable to learn from their mistakes and make decisions that repeatedly lead to negative consequences. This characteristic may be common to individuals with externalizing disorders such as DBD, psychopathy, and substance use disorders.

Established evidence base with MBT for treatment of Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and/or Antisocial Personality Disorder (ASPD). Demographic information of United Kingdom prison population highlights large proportion of offenders with PD. There is no agreed universal approach to treatment of PD within Scottish prisons with large variance across the prison estate. MBT pilots in HMP Edinburgh and HMP Cornton Vale have demonstrated positive findings in female offenders which could be replicated in male populations.

This pilot study is intended to adapt and refine an intervention grounded in the principles of Dialectical Behavior Therapy, for the treatment of repeat criminal offenders with antisocial personality disorder. This study will be open to individuals participating in an intensive supervision program operated by the U.S. District Court of the Southern District of New York (the RISE Court program).

Antisocial behavior often occurs in different generations within the same family. However, it is not known what factors contribute to this passing of antisocial behavior from parent to child to grandchild. This study is part of a project evaluating antisocial behavior in families; it focuses on the passage of such behavior from one generation to the next.

This study aims to investigate psychosocial risk- and protective factors such as psychiatric disorder, socio-economic background and family functioning among school dropouts and to compare the findings with those by a matched control group of regularly enrolled students.
