A Sleep Focused Parenting Intervention for Preschool Aged Children at Risk for ADHD
Attention Deficit and Disruptive Behavior DisordersAttention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder4 moreThe goal of this pilot clinical effectiveness trial is to compare a brief parent behavioral intervention (PBI) to a modified sleep focused PBI (SF-PBI) delivered by therapists in pediatric primary care for families of children 3-5 years old with sleep problems and early ADHD symptoms. The main aims are to: Demonstrate acceptability, feasibility, and appropriateness of the SF-PBI. Examine change in sleep and ADHD symptoms among preschoolers with ADHD symptoms receiving SF-PBI compared to the brief PBI.

Prostate CancerSleep Disturbance2 moreMany treatments for prostate cancer can cause significant fatigue and/or problems with memory and concentration. Many treatments for prostate cancer also result in disturbed sleep. Improving sleep may reduce feelings of fatigue and improve memory and concentration. The purpose of this study is to test a wearable device that provides real-time feedback on sleep patterns, instruction on how to improve sleep, and a score that indicates periods of time when fatigue and issues with memory and concentration may be most troublesome. The study also is designed to test a type of treatment (cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia, CBT-I) that is helpful for people who are experiencing disturbed sleep.
Enhancing Sleep Quality for Nursing Home Residents With Dementia - R33 Phase
Alzheimer DiseaseDementia2 moreThis study seeks to improve clinical outcomes for an important, growing, and vulnerable population-nursing home residents with Alzheimer's disease or related dementias-by testing an evidence-based intervention to improve these residents' sleep. It will also examine the implementation and sustainment of this intervention.
Sleep and Circadian Treatments for Shift Workers
Shift-Work Sleep DisorderShift-Work Related Sleep DisturbanceThere are three components to this study: a Field Trial, a Shift Worker Survey, and Focus Groups. The Investigators will study the effectiveness, feasibility, and acceptability of an 8-h sleep intervention in older night workers in an operational environment. The overall goal of the Field Trial is to minimize sleep deficiency and negative outcomes resulting from that, including sleepiness and performance impairments during night shift work. The Shift Worker Survey is designed to understand some of the demographic and operational factors that enable or inhibit the ability of individual shift workers to adopt this intervention. The Focus Groups are designed to glean in-depth information from older shift workers who indicate that they are unable or unwilling to adopt an 8-h sleep timing intervention. Understanding these factors will assist in refining and targeting the intervention to those individuals who will be most likely to benefit from the intervention sleep timing strategy.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Multimodal Therapy in Treating Sleep Disturbance in Patients With...
Hematopoietic and Lymphoid Cell NeoplasmMalignant Solid Neoplasm1 moreThis randomized phase II trial studies how well cognitive behavioral therapy and multimodal therapy works in treating sleep disturbance in patients with cancer. Cognitive behavioral therapy may help reduce sleep disturbances, fatigue, and insomnia as well as improve the well-being and quality of life of patients with cancer when given together with methylphenidate hydrochloride, therapeutic melatonin, and light therapy.

Effect of Night Float Call on Sleep and Activity Patterns Among Anesthesia Residents
Sleep DisorderShift Work2 moreWith increasing awareness about physician fatigue and its effect on patient safety, residency programs are increasingly transitioning to a night float call system. In other industries, multiple night shifts in a row can cause a disruption in the circadian rhythm, sleep debt, shift work disorder, that is related to chronic medical conditions such as obesity and cardiovascular disease. We will evaluate the effect of different call structures on resident activity, sleep and self reported measures of wellness using a commercially available Fitbit device.
