There are few studies evaluating best bathing practices in the management of pediatric atopic dermatitis (AD). Trans-epidermal water loss plays a key role in the pathophysiology of AD. In concert with application of topical corticosteroids (TCS), we sought to investigate whether frequent soaking baths (i.e. twice daily for two weeks), followed immediately by application of an occlusive moisturizer (i.e. soak-and-seal), would be more effective than infrequent soaking baths (i.e. twice weekly for two weeks) in the management of AD.

This study is a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled study to assess the efficacy of GW870086X cream formulation in subjects with moderate to severe atopic dermatitis. Subjects will be assigned to take 3 out of the 4 possible treatments for 21 ±2 days: GW870086X 0.2% cream, GW870086X 2% cream, FP 0.05% cream (as a positive control) and placebo cream. All subjects will be randomised to receive placebo cream. Three index lesions located on the arms and/or legs (one on each) will be identified per subject and each treatment will be applied to the same lesion.

Nevertheless, the knowledge of using this herbal medication for treating pruritic skin rash so far has been categorized as folk wisdom and not been confirmed by any clinical-trial study on its efficacy and mechanism of action. Research teams chose Holly Mangrove Shower Gel containing Acanthus ebracteatus Vahl to act as adjunctive for treating atopic dermatitis. Thus, for the purpose of studying the efficacy of Holly Mangrove Shower Gel containing Acanthus ebracteatus Vahl in improving the skin barrier function in atopic dermatitis.

Atopic dermatitis is an inflammatory skin disease characterized by itching, dry skin and recurrent inflammatory eczema. It is one of the most common skin diseases and is associated with reduced quality of life, functional impairment and sleep difficulties. The present study aims to investigate a new exposure-based cognitive behavioral psychological treatment for the disorder. The trial is a small scale open trial (n=25) with assessments at baseline, post-treatment and 6-month follow-up. The primary outcome is the SCORAD.
