Vitrectomy With Planned Foveal Detachment for Refractory DME With or Without Vitreo-macular Interface...

Chronic Edema of the Macula

To evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of sub retinal BSS injections in conjunction with conventional vitrectomy for refractory Diabetic macular edema (DME)- resistant to more than one anti-VEGF agent, intravitreal corticosteroids and to previous vitrectomy. Some of enrolled cases had normal vitreo-macular interface (VMI) relationship, while other cases had incomplete vitreoretinal separation with vitreomacular attachment (VMA).

Bedside Evaluation of Edema

Edema

Edema, commonly called swelling, is a common medical condition, with many causes. Clinicians generally find edema by pressing against a patient's skin, usually on the feet or shins, and observing how much dimpling there is in the skin. Most clinicians estimate the amount on a scale of mild to severe, or perhaps state the amount as 1 to 4. There is little agreement between observers, and it is hard to judge different clinicians' use of these scales. The first part of this experiment will demonstrate this inconsistency. After clinicians are shown a new technique for measuring edema, the second part of the study will show more accurate and consistent measurements. This will help clinicians to measure edema better, and to communicate their findings to other clinicians more effectively.

The Effect of Local Tranexamic Acid on Post-operative Edema and Ecchymosis in Eyelid Surgery

EdemaEcchymosis; Eyelid

Tranexamic acid (TXA) is a synthetic inhibitor of plasminogen lysine receptor that has used to reduce intra-operative bleeding in a number of clinical scenarios. Anecdotally, TXA has used by plastic surgeons to reduce post-operative bruising. To date, there is limited data to valid the benefits and to evaluate the side effects of TXA. The objective of this study is to evaluate the effect of local TXA on edema and ecchymosis in eyelid surgery.

The Relationship Between Intraocular Pressure and Macular Edema in Patients With Diabetic Macular...

Complications of Diabetes Mellitus

The Investigators propose to examine the effect of lowering the intraocular pressure on macular edema in Participants diagnosed with diabetic macular edema. Our theory is based on the assumption that lower intraocular pressure means higher Ocular Perfusion pressure, which may cause an improvement in retinal perfusion and thus an improvement in retinal oxygenation and reduced edema

Comparison Between Treatment With Yellow Micropulse Laser and Green Conventional Laser in Diabetic...

Diabetic Macular Edema

Macular edema is the most important cause of visual impairment in diabetic patients. Intravitreal injections of antiVEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor) agents and laser treatment are two effective therapies for stabilising visual acuity. However, antiVEGF therapy is very expensive and potentially needs to to be repeated for all patients life. Laser treatment, according to modified ETDRS (early treatment diabetic retinopathy study), produces retinal burns with possible negative consequences such as alterations in the visual fields. With micropulse treatment modality laser energy is delivered in short pulses ("micropulses") rather than as a continuous wave. In this way the amount of energy delivered to the retina and retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) is significantly reduced. This finer control of the photothermal effects should avoid any retinal and RPE damage. At the same time, according to several published reports, the efficacy of treatment appears to be equivalent to conventional laser therapy. Previous studies investigated the effects of 810nm micropulse laser therapy. Recently, this treatment modality has been made available also with 577nm wavelength, which corresponds to the maximum absorption level for blood. Aim of this study is to assess the safety and efficacy of 577nm micropulse laser treatment compared to conventional modified ETDRS laser therapy.
