Some patients have to endure such unpleasant symptoms even after using of antiemetic or anti-vomiting medications. The purpose of this study is to assess the therapeutic effects and safety of acupuncture for chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting on patients with malignancy
Transcutaneous Electrical Acupoint Stimulation(TEAS) for Postoperative Nausea and Vomiting in Laparoscopic...
Postoperative Nausea and VomitingThis is a single center, randomized, double-blinded, controlled clinical trial. The purpose of this study is to compare the effect of TEAS pretreatment with single acupoint or two acupoints for postoperative nausea and vomiting in patients undergoing laparoscopic operation.
Postoperative Outcomes After Positive Intraoperative Messages
Postoperative PainPostoperative Nausea1 moreThe patients scheduled for laparoscopic cholecystectomy will be allocated to 3 groups. Group A and B patients will listen to a positive message under general anesthesia. Group C patients will not listen to the message. The postoperative pain, analgesic consumption and frequency of nausea, vomiting and emergence agitation episodes will be documented and compared between the 3 groups.
Postoperative Nausea/Vomiting and Acupressure
Postoperative NauseaPostoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) remain a significant challenge in our practice. However, pharmaceutical prophylaxis can confer unpleasant adverse effects. It would therefore be appropriate to consider the use of non-pharmacological methods in preventing PONV. Acupuncture and acupressure are reported to be effective preventive treatment for PONV, and the adverse effects are minimal. Consequently, the aim of the study is to implement acupressure in our anaesthetic department procedures. A reduction of the use of antiemetics will be a parameter on the effectiveness of acupressure. The study will focus on acupressure as a supplement to the ordinary prophylactic treatment of PONV in adults undergoing orthopaedic and general surgery, and adults and children undergoing ear, nose, throat surgery. The primary endpoints are the quantities of antiemetics used before (baseline) and during the implementation period. The study will be conducted from January to December 2011.

B6 Treatment for Nausea and Vomiting in Pregnancy

Physostigmine After General Anesthesia
Postoperative Nausea and VomitingAnesthesia Recovery PeriodRecovery after general anaesthesia is often prolonged in the elderly. This group is particularly exposed to post-operative confusion. This has negative personal consequences as well as consequences for the postoperative care for these patients. The hypothesis is that physostigmine will decrease the amount of time in the post-anaesthesia care unit (PACU ), the postoperative amount of pain and shivering and finally post-operative confusion.
Comparative Effect Study Between Distal-proximal Point Association and Local Distribution Point...
Chemotherapy-induced Nausea and VomitingThe purpose of this study is to clarify whether distal-proximal point association is more effective than partial match point association by electro-acupuncture in the management of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting .
Antiemetic Efficacy of Ondansetron Versus Metoclopramide
Acute GastroenteritisVomitingAcute gastroenteritis (GEA) is a public health problem at present, the main cause of vomiting and consultation in emergencies in children under 5 years. Worldwide, there are about 2 million deaths per year due to gastroenteritis in children under 5 years. In Mexico, the mortality rate by age in 2013, recorded 28 deaths per 100,000 boys and girls, in 2013 in our country 2.5 million children between 5 and 17 years engaged in an economic activity. The occupancy rate for the child population was 8.6: 11.4 for boys and 5.8 for girls. NICE guidance gastroenteritis defined as a transient disorder caused by an enteric infection and characterized by a sudden onset of diarrhea with or without vomiting
Adjuvant Effect of Dexmedetomidine in Ultrasound (USG) Guided Transvers Abdominis Plane Block
Postoperative Nausea and VomitingA total of 60 adult patients American Society of Anesthesiologists physical status I,II, III were randomized to Group B (n = 30) receiving TAP block with 0.25% bupivacaine and Group D (n = 30) with 0.5 mcg/kg dexmedetomidine added to 0.25 % bupicavaine followed by general anaesthesia. Total local anaesthetic volume was standardised with 20 ml each sides of the abdomen. Hemodynamic responses to surgical incision and intraoperative fentanyl consumption were noted. Visual analog scale (VAS) scores were assessed on the emergence, at 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 24 h. Time to first rescue analgesic (when VAS ≥4 cm or on demand), duration of postoperative analgesia, incidence of postoperative nausea-vomiting were also noted.
