Role of Extrarenal 1-Alpha-Hydroxylase in Patients With End Stage Renal Disease
End-Stage Renal DiseaseThe goal of this study is to evaluate the role of nutritional Vitamin D deficiency as a potential contributor to the morbidity witnessed in patients with end-stage renal disease
A Safety and Tolerability Study of Zerenex (Ferric Citrate) in Patients With End-Stage Renal Disease...
HyperphosphatemiaEnd-stage Renal DiseaseThis study is to evaluates the safety and tolerability of Zerenex™ (ferric citrate) as a treatment for hyperphosphatemia in patients with End-Stage Renal Disease.
L-Carnitine as an Osmo-metabolic Agent for Peritoneal Dialysis
End-Stage Renal DiseaseA major challenge of peritoneal dialysis (PD) therapy is the development of glucose-sparing strategies able to provide an efficacious ultrafiltration (UF) profile. Study hypothesis is to evaluate the possibility to formulate PD solutions containing L-carnitine as an osmotic agent to partially replace glucose.
Multiple Interventions Related to Dialysis Procedures in Order to Reduce Cardiovascular Morbidity...
End-stage Renal DiseaseHemodialysisThis study aims to investigate the effects of high flux dialyser use and ultra pure dialysate utilization on cardiovascular disease by evaluating cardiovascular morbidity and mortality, progression of carotid artery intima-media thickness and coronary artery calcifications, inflammatory state, lipid levels, nutritional status, and erythropoietin requirement in hemodialysis patient population. It is hypothesized that both interventions in this project may diminish cardiovascular disease in hemodialysis patients.
Effect of Two Iron Preparations on Protein in the Urine
Kidney FailureChronic2 moreThis pilot study will compare the effects of sodium ferric gluconate complex and iron sucrose on urine concentrations of various chemicals including protein
Safety & Efficacy of Peginesatide for Maintenance Treatment of Anemia in Participants With Chronic...
Chronic Renal FailureChronic Kidney Disease1 moreThe purpose of this study was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of peginesatide in the maintenance treatment of anemia in participants on dialysis.
Prevention of Vascular Access Graft Failure in Patients With Chronic Renal Failure Requiring Hemodialysis...
HyperplasiaChronic Renal FailureThe purpose of this study is to determine the effect of recipient vein pretreatment of edifoligide (E2F Decoy), compared to placebo, on graft/recipient vein stenosis in polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) vascular access grafts placed for hemodialysis at 6 months after enrollment.
Clinical Study on Optimised Removal of Protein-bound Uremic Toxins With Convective Dialysis Treatment....
Chronic Renal FailurePatients will be treated with hemodiafiltration (HDF) in postdilution mode, as a control therapy, during 9 weeks. During week 5 the 1st intervention treatment, predilution hemofiltration (HF) or predilution HDF, will be performed as a midweek session. After 4 additional weeks of control therapy the other intervention treatment will be performed. Samples will be taken during week 4, 5 and 9: from inlet blood flow (0, 30, 60, 120 and 240 min), from outlet blood flow and dialysate outflow (30, 60, 120 and 240 min).
Use of Atorvastatin (Lipitor) to Decrease Panel Reactive Antibody Titers
End-Stage Kidney DiseaseThe purpose of this study is to identify subjects who are highly sensitized with antibodies. It is difficult for these patients to find suitable kidneys. We propose to treat such patients to decrease the antibodies in such a way, that it may become possible to safely transplant kidneys into them.
Combined Bone Marrow and Kidney Transplant for Multiple Myeloma With Kidney Failure
Kidney FailureChronic1 moreThe purpose of this study is to determine whether a combined bone marrow and kidney transplant will be effective in treating stage II or greater multiple myeloma and associated kidney failure. This study will determine whether transplant rejection and the need for immunosuppressive drugs are decreased with this combined transplant approach.
