Molecular Biomarkers Predicting Early Development of Endometrial Carcinoma

Cancer of Endometrium

Endometrial carcinoma represents the most common gynaecological cancer and the sixth most frequent cancer among women worldwide. The 5-year survival of patients with stage I endometrial carcinoma is 75%-88% versus 50% for stage III or 15% for stage IV disease. Therefore, early detection could improve survival rates. Specifically, in the most prevalent, type 1 endometrial cancer develops from hyperplastic endometrium. The aim of the study was to evaluate the utility of cancer gene mutations from endometrial biopsies towards predicting synchronous or metachronous development of malignant lesions. The aim of the study was to evaluate whether endometrial biopsies could already carry mutations in cancer genes useful for predicting or anticipating subsequent cancer development

Cervical CancerEndometrial Cancer

The purpose of this study is to see if a radioactive substance called 18F-Fluorodeoxyglucose (18F- FDG), injected into the cervix during a PET/CT scan done before surgery can show us more clearly which lymph nodes in the pelvis (the area near your uterus and cervix) contain cancer.

Ketohexokinase Isoforms in Endometrial Cancer.

Endometrial Cancer

Our preliminary analysis with clinical database suggested that, in patients with type I endometrial cancer, high ketohexokinase-expressing group have lower survival probabilities than low ketohexokinase-expressing group. To understand the importance of ketohexokinase expression and isoform switch during the development of type I endometrial cancer, we propose a series of in vitro experiments and clinical examinations in this project.

Practice Patterns Among Gynecologic Oncologists on Tumor Genetic Testing in Endometrial Cancer

Endometrial Cancer

In order to formulate strategies to improve adherence to best practice guidelines, as well as utilization of novel therapies, investigators must understand current practice patterns surrounding tumor genetic testing in endometrial cancer. The aim is to survey a representative sample of gynecologic oncologists who belong to the society of gynecologic oncology, via an email survey, to better understand current practices surrounding tumor genetic testing as well as determine if there have been any changes to practice since the publication of recent trials on the use of immune-checkpoint inhibitors in endometrial cancer.

Infertility Survey Among Reproductive Age Women With Gynecological and Breast Cancer

Anatomic Stage I Breast Cancer AJCC v8Anatomic Stage IA Breast Cancer AJCC v828 more

This study develops infertility survey among reproductive age women with gynecological and breast cancer. This study aims to learn how women consider whether or not to try to have a baby after surviving cancer. The advice gathered from this survey may be shared with patients and survivors in the future, so that they have information to inform their decisions about cancer treatment and family planning.
