Macular HolesMacular Pucker1 moreIn this study, the investigators aim to collect data regarding the efficiency and safety of two dyes used intraoperatively in vitrectomy to stain intraocular tissues. These products have the necessary approvals to use during such operation,These are NOT experimental products.
Computer Aided Diagnosis of Multiple Eye Fundus Diseases From Color Fundus Photograph
Diabetic RetinopathyRetinal Vein Occlusion11 moreBlindness can be caused by many ocular diseases, such as diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusion, age-related macular degeneration, pathologic myopia and glaucoma. Without timely diagnosis and adequate medical intervention, the visual impairment can become a great burden on individuals as well as the society. It is estimated that China has 110 million patients under the attack of diabetes, 180 million patients with hypertension, 120 million patients suffering from high myopia and 200 million people over 60 years old, which suggest a huge population at the risk of blindness. Despite of this crisis in public health, our society has no more than 3,000 ophthalmologists majoring in fundus oculi disease currently. As most of them assembling in metropolitan cities, health system in this field is frail in primary hospitals. Owing to this unreasonable distribution of medical resources, providing medical service to hundreds of millions of potential patients threatened with blindness is almost impossible. To solve this problem, this software (MCS) was developed as a computer-aided diagnosis to help junior ophthalmologists to detect 13 major retina diseases from color fundus photographs. This study has been designed to validate the safety and efficiency of this device.
27-gauge Vitrectomy Wound Integrity: a Prospective, Randomized Trial Comparing Angled Versus Straight...
Epiretinal MembraneTo prospectively compare clinical outcomes using straight (perpendicular) versus angled trocar insertion during 27 gauge pars plana vitrectomy surgery for epiretinal membrane Primary Endpoints: Sclerotomy suture rates and incidence of suture blebs at the end of 27 gauge MIVS. Secondary Endpoints: Rate of postoperative wound-related complications such as hypotony, choroidal detachments, endophthalmitis, and sclerotomy-related retinal tears with a minimum follow-up of 30 days.
Microperimetry and Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) in Idiopathic Epiretinal Membrane
Epiretinal MembranePurpose: To evaluate macular sensitivity and its correlation with visual acuity and Spectral Domain Optical Coherence Tomography (SD-OCT) in eyes with idiopathic epiretinal membrane (ERM). Design: Cross sectional case-control series. Methods: Setting: Dijon University Hospital. Patients: Forty nine patients (49 eyes) with idiopathic ERM and twenty-seven healthy patients (27 eyes) as a control group. Main outcome measurement: Microperimetry, Spectral Domain Optical Coherence Tomography (SD-OCT).
Choroidal Thickness Vitrectomy
Epiretinal MembraneThe purpose of this study is to assess the influence of vitrectomy on changes in central choroidea and comparing the results in imaging of the choroidea with two different OCT devices. This is a prospective, open, non-randomized, observational, MPG study This study will be performed at the Department of Ophthalmology, Medical University of Vienna. 40 Patients who undergo vitrectomy will be included into this study. The investigation will help to gain new information about the effects of vitrectomy on the choroid.
Epiretinal Membrane and Pseudophakic Cystoid Macular Edema
Macular EdemaEpiretinal MembraneProspective, observational cohort study evaluating the association between pre-surgical existence of an epiretinal membrane (ERM) and the development of pseudophakic cystoid macular edema (PCME) using spectral domain optical coherence tomography (OCT) measurements.
EpiRetinal Membrane Peeling and Internal Limiting Membrane
Epiretinal MembraneMacular Pucker1 moreTo study and compare visual acuity in patients undergoing removal of the epiretinal membrane with and without the removal of the internal limiting membrane at baseline versus 6 month.
Comparison of Two Techniques for Epiretinal or Internal Limiting Membrane Peel
Epiretinal MembraneVitreomacular TractionEpiretinal membranes (ERM) are cellular membranes on the surface of the retina that result in distortion of the vision (metamorphopsia), and decreased best-corrected visual acuity. They are most frequently found in patients over the age of 50 and have a reported prevalence of 7-12%. [1,2] Epiretinal membranes are caused by posterior vitreous separation, retinal detachment, proliferative vitreoretinopathy, cataract surgery, trauma, inflammation, retinal vascular disease, and idiopathic. [1-4] Epiretinal membrane removal by pars plana vitrectomy combined with internal limiting membrane peeling leads to improved vision, decreased metamorphopsia, and improved quality of life after surgery. [2] Internal limiting membrane (ILM) peel has been associated with decreased rates of epiretinal membrane recurrence and is also performed during vitrectomy for repair of macular holes or vitreomacular traction. [5,6] Internal limiting membrane peeling can be performed by using an instrument to make a break in the membrane followed by peeling with forceps, or by utilizing ILM forceps alone to pinch and peel an unviolated ILM. No study exists comparing different intraoperative techniques used for ILM peeling on visual outcomes and operating time. The investigators hypothesize that using a "pinch and peel" technique will equal outcomes with shorter operating time than other techniques. McDonald HR, Johnson RN, Ai E, Jumper JM, Fu AD.
