Pharmacogenomics is the study of how genes may affect the body's response to and interaction with some prescription medications. Genes, which are inherited from parents, carry information that determines things such as eye color and blood type. Genes can also influence how patients process and respond to medications. Depending on the genetic makeup, some medications may work faster or slower or produce more or fewer side effects. Pharmacogenomics testing may help doctors learn more about how patients break down and process specific medications based on their genes and improve the quality of life of cancer patients receiving clinical care.

The Sponsor will also transition all lavages to luteal phase timing, when endometrial shedding is least. In Phase II the Sponsor will examine our data in context of clinical characteristics, particularly age, to develop a multivariate model that determines optimal mutant allele frequency (MAF) diagnostic threshold by patient. Furthermore, the sponsor will explore a highly innovative idea, entailing empirically determining each individual's background mutation load, agnostic of the aging or mutagenic exposures responsible, and using this as a personalized calibrator to determine optimal MAF diagnostic threshold.

This study will develop and assess the impact of a novel culturally targeted media intervention to improve psychosocial outcomes and GCRA use in Latinas at-risk of hereditary breast and ovarian cancer. If the intervention is proven to be effective in a future randomized controlled trial, the intervention can be disseminated to clinics and adapted to other ethnic groups.

Sentinel Node Detection in Clinical Early Stage Ovarian Cancer
Ovarian CancerSentinel NodeAs most cancers, ovarian cancer also spreads to regional lymph nodes. The concept of sentinel lymph node surgery is to see whether the cancer has spread to the very first lymph node or sentinel node (SN). If the sentinel node does not contain cancer, there is a high likelihood that the cancer has not spread to other lymph nodes. This means that, at least theoretically, a radical lymphadenectomy could be omitted and thus the associated morbidity. The sentinel node technique has been proven to be effective in different cancers such as breast cancer and malignant melanoma. In gynaecological tumors it has been shown to be effective in vulvar cancer. Currently sentinel node studies are done for cervix and uterine cancer. The present study determines whether or not a sentinel node procedure in patients with ovarian cancer is feasible when the tracers are injected in the ovarian ligaments.

Ovarian CancerDespite an increase in longevity, surviving ovarian cancer often brings an array of unpleasant side effects and compromises in QOL. Our proposed trial will be the first study to test whether exercise compared with attention control has a beneficial impact on quality of life, fitness and surrogate markers of ovarian cancer. Our trial could suggest a unique and important role for exercise in ovarian cancer care given that physical and functional aspects of QOL are often the most compromised in ovarian cancer patients.
