Chemosensitivity Testing to Assign Treatment for Patients With Stage III or Stage IV Ovarian Cancer...

Ovarian Cancer

RATIONALE: Chemosensitizers may increase the effectiveness of a chemotherapy drug by making tumor cells more sensitive to the drug. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to study the effectiveness of chemosensitivity testing to assign treatment for patients with stage III or stage IV ovarian cancer who have undergone surgery.

IM-862 in Treating Patients With Recurrent Ovarian Cancer

Ovarian Cancer

RATIONALE: IM-862 may stop the growth of ovarian cancer by stopping blood flow to the tumor. PURPOSE: Phase I trial to study the effectiveness of IM-862 in treating patients who have recurrent ovarian cancer after treatment with chemotherapy and surgery.

Sorafenib Tosylate and Gemcitabine Hydrochloride in Treating Patients With Recurrent Epithelial...

Recurrent Ovarian Epithelial CancerRecurrent Primary Peritoneal Cavity Cancer

This phase II trial is studying how well giving sorafenib together with gemcitabine works in treating patients with recurrent or refractory ovarian cancer or primary peritoneal cancer. Sorafenib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking the enzymes necessary for their growth and by stopping blood flow to the tumor. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as gemcitabine, work in different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Giving sorafenib with gemcitabine may kill more tumor cells.

Ovarian Cancer

This is an open-label, single-arm, two-stage, multicenter Phase II study evaluating the efficacy and safety of bevacizumab in women with platinum resistant, advanced (Stage III or IV) EOC (epithelial ovarian cancer) or PPC (primary peritoneal cancer) that subsequently progressed either during treatment with Doxil or Hycamtin therapy or within 3 months of discontinuing treatment with Doxil or Hycamtin therapy.

Paclitaxel and Carboplatin With or Without Epirubicin in Treating Patients With Stage IIB, Stage...

Fallopian Tube CancerOvarian Cancer1 more

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. It is not yet known whether receiving paclitaxel and carboplatin with epirubicin is more effective than paclitaxel and carboplatin alone for ovarian epithelial, fallopian tube, or peritoneal cancer. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of paclitaxel and carboplatin with or without epirubicin in treating patients who have stage IIB, stage III, or stage IV invasive ovarian epithelial, fallopian tube, or peritoneal cancer.

Combination Chemotherapy in Treating Patients With Advanced Ovarian Epithelial Cancer

Ovarian Cancer

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining more than one drug may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of combination chemotherapy in treating patients who have advanced ovarian epithelial cancer.

S0009 Combination Chemo and Surgery in Stage III or Stage IV Ovarian Cancer

Fallopian Tube CancerOvarian Cancer1 more

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining more than one drug or combining chemotherapy with surgery may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of combination chemotherapy and surgery in treating patients who have stage III or stage IV ovarian epithelial cancer, primary peritoneal cancer, or fallopian tube cancer.

Primary Peritoneal Cavity CancerRecurrent Ovarian Epithelial Cancer

Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of ixabepilone in treating patients who have recurrent or persistent ovarian epithelial or primary peritoneal cancer that has not responded to previous chemotherapy. Drugs used in chemotherapy work in different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die.

Primary Peritoneal Cavity CancerRecurrent Ovarian Epithelial Cancer

Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of bortezomib in treating patients who have persistent or recurrent ovarian epithelial cancer or primary peritoneal cancer. Bortezomib may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking the enzymes necessary for their growth.

Fenretinide Followed by Surgery Compared With Surgery Alone in Preventing Ovarian Cancer in Patients...

Ovarian Cancer

RATIONALE: Chemoprevention therapy is the use of certain drugs to try to prevent the development of cancer. It is not yet known whether fenretinide given before surgery is more effective in preventing ovarian cancer than surgery alone. PURPOSE: Randomized clinical trial to compare the effectiveness of fenretinide followed by surgery with that of surgery alone in preventing ovarian cancer in patients who are at increased risk.
