Chemotherapy With or Without Peripheral Stem Cell Transplantation in Treating Patients With Persistent...

Ovarian Cancer

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Peripheral stem cell transplantation may be able to replace immune cells that were destroyed by chemotherapy or radiation therapy used to kill tumor cells. It is not yet known whether chemotherapy alone is more effective than chemotherapy plus peripheral stem cell transplantation for ovarian epithelial cancer. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of paclitaxel and carboplatin with that of carboplatin, mitoxantrone, and cyclophosphamide followed by peripheral stem cell transplantation in treating patients who have persistent stage III or stage IV ovarian epithelial cancer.

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining more than one drug may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: Phase I trial to study the effectiveness of combination chemotherapy consisting of gemcitabine and topotecan in treating patients with refractory or recurrent ovarian or fallopian tube cancer.

Monoclonal Antibody Therapy in Treating Patients With Ovarian Epithelial Cancer, Melanoma, Acute...

Adult Acute Myeloid Leukemia With 11q23 (MLL) AbnormalitiesAdult Acute Myeloid Leukemia With Inv(16)(p13;q22)14 more

This phase I trial is studying the side effects of monoclonal antibody therapy in treating patients with ovarian epithelial cancer, melanoma, acute myeloid leukemia, myelodysplastic syndrome, or non-small cell lung cancer. Monoclonal antibodies can locate tumor cells and either kill them or deliver tumor-killing substances to them without harming normal cells

Study of Ovarex® (Oregovomab) MAb With Front-Line Chemotherapy for Ovarian Cancer Treatment

Ovarian Cancer

An experimental treatment with OvaRex® MAb-B43.13 (oregovomab), called immunotherapy is being tested in ovarian cancer patients. Immunotherapy causes the body's defenses to react against cancer cells. The purpose of this research study is to determine if immunotherapy with oregovomab can create an immune response and enable the body to fight the disease and help ovarian cancer patients live longer. Patients with a possible diagnosis of ovarian cancer will be screened for study participation pre-surgery and, if eligible, will receive oregovomab during front-line chemotherapy treatment for ovarian cancer and quarterly for about a year following chemotherapy. Patients who experience disease progression will be discontinued from oregovomab therapy. Patients will also have urine, blood and tissue samples collected to assess the immune response to oregovomab.

Neuroinflammation and Age-associated Brain Pathology: Two Potential Mechanisms of Cognitive Impairment...

Ovarian Cancer

This clinical study will use the small molecule translocator protein (TSPO) ligand, 18F-labeled DPA- 714, to visualize and quantify neuroinflammation in treatment naivete women with stage 1-4 newly diagnosed ovarian cancer (without brain metastases) prior to starting neoadjuvant chemotherapy treatment (baseline) and within a month of completing first 6 cycles of cytotoxic chemotherapy treatment (follow-up). In addition, we will use the well-characterized small molecule PET(Positron Emission Tomography) tracer, 11C-labeled Pittsburgh compound B (PiB) to visualize and quantify the regional brain distribution of pathological amyloid deposition at baseline only. The brain amyloid PET and MRI data acquired through this study will be correlated with cognitive test data, clinical data, genetic testing, and biospecimens collected in this study.

Detection of Ovarian Cancer Using an Artificial Intelligence Enabled Transvaginal Ultrasound Imaging...

Ovarian Cancer

Ovarian cancer is relatively rare but fatal with an annual incidence rate of 11.8 per 100 000 and a high mortality-to-incidence ratio of >0.6. The modest diagnostic accuracy of TVU has risen some concerns about the over-treatment.Now, with the development of artificial intelligence (AI), we may have a better chance to interpret TVU imagines with high efficiency, reproducibility and accuracy.
