A Study of Circulating Exosome Proteomics In Gallbladder Carcinoma Patients
ProteinosisGallbladder CarcinomaThis research will be the first study for exosome purified from blood in gallbladder carcinoma patients. Proteomics studies will be done in both tumor tissue and the circulating exosome from blood specimens. Then, the potential prognostic and predictive biomarkers will be searched by bioinformatics to find the correlations between exosome biomarkers and gallbladder carcinoma.
The Role of Long Non-coding RNAs WRAP53 and UCA-1 as Potential Biomarkers in Diagnosis of Hepatocellular...
Hepatocellular CarcinomaLiver Cirrhosis1 moreThe aim of this work is to study the role of long non-coding RNAs WRAP53 and urothelial carcinoma-associated 1 (UCA1) as potential biomarkers in diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma.
Prospective Translational Study Investigating Predictors of Outcome in Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma...
Metastatic Renal Cell CarcinomaProspective translational study investigating predictors of outcome in metastatic renal cell carcinoma patients treated with Nivolumab (I-Rene trial)
Observational Study on Patients With Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC)
Hepatocellular CarcinomaThis is an ongoing, longitudinal, single centre, observational, retro-prospective clinical cohort study of patients with HCC in usual clinical practice. All the HCC patients diagnosed and treated in Liver Cancer Center, Nanfang Hospital are consecutively collected and followed up.
Risk Factors for Concurrent Endometrial Carcinoma in Patients With a Curettage Diagnosis of Endometrial...
Endometrial CarcinomaObjective: To examine the risk factors for coexisting endometrial carcinoma in patients with endometrial hyperplasia. Method: Seventy-seven patients who received hysterectomy for endometrial hyperplasia were enrolled and divided into the non-endometrial carcinoma group (57) and the endometrial carcinoma group (20) depending on the final pathology. Clinical variables were analyzed.
Genetic Studies in Liver Cancer Patients
Hepatocellular CarcinomaHepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one the most common malignancies in the world, especially in sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia. Since 1984, it has been the leading cause of cancer death in Taiwan. About 6000-8000 people died of this cancer every year in Taiwan. DNA microarray (DNA chip) is a very powerful tool to clarify the genetic changes in cancers. Expression profiling techniques have been used to simultaneously monitor the expression of thousands of genes from human tumor samples. It has been successfully used to predict clinical outcome and survival as well as classify different types of cancer. In this study, we will use the DNA chip to study the genetics in liver cancer patients.
Hypercoagulable Parameters as Predictors of Thrombotic Events and Prognosis in Patients With Advanced...
Non-Small Cell Lung CarcinomaVenous ThromboembolismThe association between cancer and thrombosis is well known and the occurrence of thrombotic complications is commonly associated with poor prognosis. The aim os this study is to determine the possible value of hypercoagulable parameters as prognostic parameters in advanced non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC).
Measuring Temperatures of Tissues During Endoscopy
CarcinomaUndifferentiatedPrevious studies have indicated that tumors are warmer than the surrounding tissues. We want to ascertain that this is true for tumors in the GI tract. If so, a thermal camera in an endoscope may aid the diagnosis of tumors. The experiment entails inserting a cannula sheathed thermocouple into the work canal of an endoscope or a colonoscope. The examining physician will bring the distal end to touch the tumors he finds and their adjacent tissues, noting their respective temperatures. This experiment must be conducted before embarking on the complicated and costly project of producing a tiny thermal camera which will be able to navigate the GI tract.
A Study of Gene Polymorphisms and Normal Tissue Radiation Injury in Patients Treated for Breast,...
Breast CancerGlioma6 moreThis study will examine, for the first time, the independent contribution of a patient's own genetic makeup to the development of post-radiation complications, permitting the future development of predictive tests to avoid radiation injury. To do this, the investigators will examine gene markers in a series of breast, prostate, brain and lung cancer survivors who have received conformal radiotherapy between 1996 and 2003 at the Cross Cancer Institute and Tom Baker Cancer Centre.
The Prognostic Value of Human Papilloma Virus in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma
Nasopharyngeal CarcinomaIt is well established that HPV infection has a casual and is a prognostic factor in several cancer types, including oropharynx. We wish to examine if HPV infection has a prognostic significance in nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
