Relationship Between Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease and Dental Erosion
Gastroesophageal Reflux DiseaseTooth WearThis study aimed to investigate the relationship between gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and dental erosion and the alterations in oral tissues. This was a case-control study. The GERD group consisted of 50 individuals with endoscopic esophagitis who had gastroesophageal reflux symptoms, and the control group consisted of 50 healthy individuals. The prevalence of teeth wear and caries was evaluated using the Smith and Knight tooth wear index (TWI) and the decayed, missing, and filled teeth index (DMFT), respectively. Inflammatory mouth sensitivity, tongue sensitivity, nonspecific itching and burning, halitosis, dry mouth, teeth sensitivity, and the erythema of the soft and hard palatal mucosa and uvula were also evaluated. Stimulated saliva samples were collected, and the salivary flow rate, pH, and buffering capacity values were measured.
PPI Therapy Impact on GERD After Sleeve Gastrectomy
Gastro Esophageal RefluxBarrett Esophagus1 moreThe trial would to try to establish: The best post-operative PPI prescription protocol after Sleeve Gastrectomy The impact of PPI therapy on postoperative peptic diseases (erosive gastropathies, ulcers, duodenitis, esophagitis and/or Barrett) The impact of PPI therapy on post-operative GERD symptoms (assessed with the use of two standard tests: MRGE-HRQL and GERDQ
Anthropometric Measures and Severity of Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease
Gastroesophageal Reflux Diseaseevaluate the impact of different anthropometric measures on clinical and endoscopic severity of GERD and its relation to serum leptin.
Nexium Capsules S-CEI for Justification of Esomeprazole in Acid Related Disease for Reflux Symptom...
Reflux EsophagitisThe objective of this investigation is to collect following data in patients given NEXIUM capsule (NEXIUM) in usual post-marketing use.
High Dosage Esomeprazole and Baclofen for Therapy of Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease
Patients With Persistent Objectified Gastroesophageal Reflux and Reflux-Associated Symptoms Despite PPI-Therapy With 40mg EsomeprazoleIt has been reported that Baclofen is an appropriate tool in the therapeutic management of Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease. To objectify gastroesophageal reflux combined pH-metry/impedance monitoring was applied to patients with persistent reflux-associated symptoms despite PPI-therapy (40mg esomeprazole for 2 weeks). After provement of pathological findings in the test PPI-dosage was escalated to double standard-dosage for another for weeks. In case of persistent symptoms another ph-metry/impedance monitoring was performed. In case of pathological findings additional baclofen was administered to the therapeutic regime. After 3 months another ph-metry/impedance monitoring was performed. At the time point of the tests a questionnaire was completed. Aim of the study was to evaluate the influence of high dosage PPI-therapy and additional baclofen in patients with persistent symptoms and objectified gastroesophageal reflux.
Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease Among College Students
Gastroesophageal RefluxBackground: Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a worldwide prevalent gastrointestinal disorder which has negative impacts on quality of life, health and economy. The aims of this study were to assess the prevalence of GERD among college students in southwestern Saudi Arabia and to evaluate its personal, academic and stress correlates Materials and Methods: Through a cross-sectional study design, a self-reported questionnaire was distributed between a representative sample of students in health and non-health care colleges in southwestern Saudi Arabia. The questionnaire included data for personal characteristics, academic study, and Arabic versions of GERD questionnaire (GerdQ) and Cohen's Perceived Stress Scale.
Gastroesophageal Reflux During LMA in Control Ventilation (LMA, Laryngeal Mask Airway)
Gastroesophageal RefluxLaryngeal mask airway is seldom used for control ventilation in America, while it is popular in China. The question is whether the incidence of gastroesophageal reflux in control ventilation is really higher than in spontaneous ventilation. So the investigators combine the third generation laryngeal mask and catheter-based Digitrapper ph-Z monitor system to evaluate the exact incidence of gastroesophageal reflux in these two groups.
Impact of Gastroesophageal Reflux and Aspiration on Airway Inflammation and Microbiome in Children...
Chronic Cough (CC)Gastroesophageal Reflux (GER)Using an active cohort of children in whom Airway and gastrointestinal endoscopy will be performed, investigators will conduct a chart review to obtain relevant clinical data and the investigators will use an aliquot of airway sample obtained during the clinically indicated bronchoscopy for microbiome analysis. A case-control study design will be used to study whether subjects with CC with GER have a distinct lung microbiome and increased inflammation as compared with subjects with CC without GER and to determine whether the microbiome and degree of inflammation is related to the type of GER (acidic versus nonacidic).
Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) Before and After Gastric Bypass
Gastroesophageal Reflux DiseaseMorbid ObesityThe hypothesis of this study was that gastric bypass (GBP) ameliorates gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) in morbidly obese patients.
