Pemetrexed, Cisplatin, and Radiation Therapy in Treating Patients With Esophageal or Gastroesophageal...

Esophageal Cancer

RATIONALE: Pemetrexed may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as cisplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Cisplatin may make tumor cells more sensitive to radiation therapy. Giving pemetrexed together with cisplatin and radiation therapy may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of pemetrexed when given together with cisplatin and radiation therapy in treating patients with stage III or stage IV esophageal cancer or gastroesophageal junction cancer.

FOLFOX-Cetuximab-radiotherapy for the Treatment of Esophageal Cancer

Esophageal Cancer Stage III

This phase II trial is studying the effects of oxaliplatin, leucovorin and fluorouracil-when given together with Cetuximab and radiation therapy and radiation therapy to see how they work in treating patients with stage III esophageal cancer.

Irinotecan, Radiation Therapy, and Docetaxel With or Without Cisplatin in Treating Patients With...

Esophageal Cancer

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as docetaxel and cisplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Irinotecan may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Irinotecan and docetaxel may also make tumor cells more sensitive to radiation therapy. Giving combination chemotherapy together with radiation therapy may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of docetaxel when given together with irinotecan and radiation therapy with or without cisplatin in treating patients with locally advanced esophageal cancer.

Oxaliplatin, Capecitabine and Avastin for Metastatic Esophagogastric Adenocarcinoma

Esophageal NeoplasmsStomach Neoplasms1 more

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the progression free survival of capecitabine (Xeloda), oxaliplatin and bevacizumab (Avastin) in previously untreated metastatic esophagogastric adenocarcinomas.

Study of Erlotinib and Chemotherapy for Unresectable or Metastatic Cancer of the Esophagus and Gastric...

Unresectable Adenocarcinoma of the EsophagusMetastatic Adenocarcinoma of the Esophagus2 more

In this study, Erlotinib and 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU), Leucovorin and Oxaliplatin (a regimen known also as FOLFOX-6) will be the chemotherapy study drugs. The main purpose of this study is to test the safety and effectiveness of this combination of chemotherapy drugs and to see how they affect your cancer. Another purpose of this study is to examine samples from your blood and tumor. This research will be done to better understand how subjects respond to treatment. Specifically, researchers will look at the way your genes and proteins respond to drugs like those used in this study.

The Effect of Epoetin Alfa on the Anemia of Patients With Selected Cancers Receiving Chemotherapy...

AnemiaMultiple Myeloma8 more

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of epoetin alfa versus placebo in reducing or preventing the need for transfusions in anemic patients with cancer receiving chemotherapy, and to investigate possible quality-of-life benefits associated with the use of epoetin alfa. Epoetin alfa is a genetically engineered protein that stimulates red blood cell production.

Cisplatin and Irinotecan Chemotherapy, Followed by ZD 1839 (Iressa) in Patients With Esophageal...

Esophageal CancerGastric Cancer

This study is for patients with esophageal, esophagogastric, or gastric cancer that has spread to other parts of the body. The purpose of this study is to test the safety and effectiveness of a new experimental drug called ZD 1839 following initial therapy with two other chemotherapy drugs, called Irinotecan (CPT-11) and Cisplatin.

Sutent Following Chemotherapy, Radiation and Surgery For Resectable Esophageal Cancer

Esophageal Cancer

The purpose of this study is to see whether or not the combination of cisplatin, irinotecan and radiation, followed by surgery, followed by oral Sutent, is effective and safe for patients with resectable esophageal cancer.

Completed11 enrollment criteria

Neoadjuvant Docetaxel and Cisplatin Plus Chemoradiotherapy Followed By Surgery in Treating Patients...

Esophageal Cancer

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as docetaxel and cisplatin, use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Giving combination chemotherapy with radiation therapy before surgery may shrink the tumor so that it can be removed. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well giving docetaxel and cisplatin together with chemoradiotherapy followed by surgery works in treating patients with locally advanced, resectable esophageal cancer.

Edotecarin and Cisplatin in Treating Patients With Advanced or Metastatic Solid Tumors

Esophageal CancerGastric Cancer2 more

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as edotecarin and cisplatin, use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining edotecarin with cisplatin may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: Phase I trial to study the effectiveness of combining edotecarin with cisplatin in treating patients who have advanced or metastatic solid tumors.
