End-Stage Renal DiseaseType 2 Diabetes Mellitus

This study is a multi-center, double-blinded, randomized, study of bardoxolone methyl treatment in patients with End-Stage Renal Disease (ERSD) and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) on peritoneal dialysis.

Vitamin K to Attenuate Coronary Artery Calcification in Hemodialysis Patients

End-stage Kidney Disease

The purpose of this study is to see if vitamin K supplementation three times per week reduces the progression of coronary artery calcification over 12 months in dialysis patients compared to placebo.

High Cut-off Hemodialysis in Patients With Advanced Cardiac AL Amyloidosis and End Stage Renal Disease...

Primary Amyloidosis of Light Chain Type

The aim of the study is to assess survival of patients with advanced cardiac AL amyloidosis treated with high cut-off hemodialysis (HCO-HD) combined with chemotherapy.

Prophylactic Effect of Nifedipine on Further Decline in Renal Function in Patients Undergoing Open-Heart...

Kidney FailureChronic1 more

To compare renal function (51Cr-EDTA clearance) 48 hours post open-heart surgery (coronary bypass or valve surgery) in patients with impaired renal function after randomization to either nifedipine infusion at start of surgery and the following 24 hours or placebo (0.9% saline infusion). Study hypothesis is that nifedipine has a prophylactic effect on decline in renal function.

Does Extra-High Dose Hepatitis B Vaccination Confer Longer Serological Protection in Peritoneal...

Peritoneal DialysisRenal Disease1 more

Hepatitis B virus causes inflammation of the liver which is detrimental to the end-stage renal disease patients on dialysis. Hepatitis B vaccine is recommended for this high-risk population although the vaccine protection remains suboptimal and does not last long. The purpose of this study is to determine the best vaccination strategy over a 6-month period using recombinant hepatitis B vaccine (Engerix-B) in peritoneal dialysis patients. Current data show that the traditional Engerix-B vaccine dose (40 micrograms) does not always lead to protective and long-lasting hepatitis B surface antibody. The investigators, therefore, decided to compare the usual 40-micrograms with an 80-microgram dose strategy of vaccine protection.

Relating Abdominal Complications With Peritoneal Pressure Estimation and Reporting

Peritoneal DialysisKidney Failure3 more

This is a prospective observational study in people treated with peritoneal dialysis for kidney failure to investigate whether estimated intraperitoneal pressure (eIPP) is correlated with non-infectious PD-related complications in end-stage renal failure patients. It looks to understand how both peritoneal dialysis complications (including fluid leaks and hernias) along with gastrointestinal symptoms are associated with eIPP in people treated with PD.

A Simple Clinical Tool for Increasing Enrollment on a Kidney Transplant Waiting List for Patients...

Kidney FailureChronic

The main objective of this study is to show that the systematic use of a prognostic score as early as possible after the initiation of dialysis in patients over 70 years of age and with a good prognosis at 3 years of dialysis results in an increase in the number of entries on a kidney transplant waiting list at 12 months after the initiation of dialysis. This prospective assessment is carried out as part of a historico-prospective before-after study in parallel with a survey of changes in national practices over the same time period via a here-elsewhere type study. Historical data (i.e the. "before" period) will include incident dialysis cases during the calendar years 2013, 2014 and 2015 before the start of the prospective phase (i.e. "after" period, which is represented by the current declaration); since a preliminary study demonstrated that the data are comparable from 2011 to 2013, we will use the average of data thus obtained. Historical data will be retrieved from the REIN (The French Renal Epidemiology and Information Network) registry data and will be validated by investigators at each center.

Cholecalciferol Supplementation in Restless Leg Syndrome in Patients With Chronic Kidney Disease...

Restless Leg DisorderRenal Disease Bone6 more

Restless leg syndrome (RLS) is sleep disorder characterized by an unpleasant feeling in the lower limbs, which can be accompanied by paresthesias, and need for urgent movement of the legs. Its diagnosis is clinical, based on an International Committee of the Study of RLS (International Restless Legs Syndrome Study) questionnaire. Its prevalence is about 5-15% in the general population, being twice as frequent in women and with a tendency to increase incidence with aging. In the chronic kidney disease (CKD) population, mainly in patients on dialysis, the prevalence increases by up to 70%. Vitamin D deficiency is associated with RLS and active vitamin D supplementation seems to improve RLS and severity. It is seems, studies on the role of vitamin D supplementation in CKD population are missing. The clinical-scientific hypothesis of this study is that replacement of vitamin D (cholecalciferol) will improve the symptoms of RLS. As parathyroidectomy can relieve RLS, the aim of researchers is to randomize patients with CKD on dialysis to receive cholecalciferol or placebo in 2 distinct groups: secondary hyperparathyroidism and adynamic bone disease.

The Prognosis of Graft Using Plastic Cannula in Hemodialysis

End Stage Renal Failure on Dialysis

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the complication of the puncture related complication in AVG (arteriovenous graft) such as pseudoaneurysm and hematoma, and the dialysis adequacy using plastic cannula versus metal needle in hemodialysis patients

POCUS VS CT in Diagnosis of Acute Dyspnea in Chronic Hemodialysis Patients

DyspneaChronic Renal Failure
