Coagulation; IntravascularOptimal anticoagulation using heparin with close attention to maintain therapeutic dosing during the procedure is important. Randomized comparison of continuous and intermittent heparin infusion during catheter ablation of Atrial Fibrillation.
Benefit of Complex Fractionated Atrial Electrograms Elimination in Atrial Fibrillation Ablation...
Atrial FibrillationCatheter AblationThe aim of this study is to evaluate whether performing complex fractionated atrial electrograms ablation improves outcomes in persistent or atrial fibrillation ablation.
WOEST ( What is the Optimal antiplatElet & Anticoagulant Therapy in Patients With Oral Anticoagulation...
AnticoagulantsPlatelet Aggregation Inhibitors2 moreThe study will assess the hypothesis that the combination warfarin & clopidogrel 75 mg/day is superior to triple therapy (warfarin + clopidogrel 75mg/day + aspirin 80mg/day) with respect to bleeding complications while equally safe with respect to the prevention of thrombotic complications in patients with both indications for warfarin use and dual antiplatelet (clopidogrel 75mg/day + aspirin 80mg/day) treatment.
Ablation vs Drug Therapy for Atrial Fibrillation - Pilot Trial
Atrial FibrillationArrhythmiaThe CABANA pilot study is designed to test the hypothesis that the treatment strategy of percutaneous left atrial catheter ablation for the purpose of the elimination of atrial fibrillation (AF) is superior to current state-of-the-art therapy with either rate control or anti-arrhythmic drugs for reducing AF recurrences at 1 year follow-up.
Randomized Trial of Two Ablation Catheters in Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation
Atrial FibrillationAtrial fibrillation (AF) is a chaotic heart rhythm of the top chambers of the heart. AF occurs in up to 10% of the population over the age of 60. It is associated with tiredness, impaired functional capacity and is the cause of up to 10% of strokes. Ablation is a procedure performed with small tubes (catheters) that are introduced through the top of the leg. Burns are made inside of the heart to treat AF. This procedure has been shown to cure 90% of patients with intermittent (paroxysmal) AF. The investigators currently use either one of two different catheters to create these burns inside the heart. The investigators do not know which is the best catheter to use in patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation. The investigators study will randomly allocate patients to have their ablation performed by either one of the catheters to give a fair comparison between the two. The investigators objective is to study the differences between these two catheters.
Intravenous Tedisamil in the Rapid Conversion of Atrial Fibrillation or Flutter to Normal Sinus...
Atrial FibrillationAtrial FlutterThe purpose of this study is to demonstrate the ability of tedisamil to convert atrial fibrillation or flutter into normal sinus rhythm (NSR) in male patients.
Totally Endoscopic Ablation of Atrial Fibrillation
Atrial FibrillationPrimary Objective To evaluate the efficiency of totally endoscopic ablation of AF compared to rate control management of AF. Secondary Objectives Does totally endoscopic ablation: reduce atrial fibrillation symptoms? increase working capacity and improve quality of life? improve atrial function? reduce the risk for stroke?
Asymptomatic Atrial Fibrillation and Stroke Evaluation in Pacemaker Patients and the Atrial Fibrillation...
HypertensionAtrial FibrillationIn patients with a standard indication for pacing and no previous history of AF, detection of Atrial High Rate Episodes predicts an increased risk of stroke and systemic embolism. Overdrive atrial pacing with the AF Suppression algorithm will reduce the risk of symptomatic AF in patients with standard indication for pacing and no previous history of AF.
Association of Obesity and Cardiovascular Outcomes in Atrial Fibrillation
Atrial FibrillationObesity2 moreIn this study, the investigators evaluated the association between various measures of adiposity [BMI and waist circumference (WC)] and clinical outcomes in Asian patients with AF who were prescribed OAC, using a nationwide population based cohort.
Atrial Deganglionation as a Therapy for Cardiac Surgery Patients With Atrial Fibrillation
Atrial FibrillationA prospective single-arm study of ganglionated plexi ablation in cardiothoracic surgery patients with a history of atrial fibrillation.
