Patient Convenience Study

Atrial Fibrillation

The aim of this non-interventional study is to describe patient's perception of anticoagulant treatment when using Pradaxa® to prevent stroke and systemic embolism while suffering from atrial fibrillation (according to its approved indication in the approved dosages of 110 mg or 150 mg twice daily) in comparison to standard care using Vitamin K Antagonist (VKA).

Atrial Fibrillation, Stroke, and Bleeding in Patients Undergoing Aortic Biovalve Implantation

Atrial FibrillationStroke3 more

The primary purpose of the FIN-bioAVR registry is to assess the incidence of AF, strokes and major bleeding events in patients undergoing aortic valve replacement. This retrospective multicenter registry will include 850 patients with aortic valve replacement using bioprosthesis.

Stroke Lesion Pattern on MRI and Atrial Fibrillation

StrokeAtrial Fibrillation

The aim of this retrospective cohort study is to investigate the relationship between lesion pattern on Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and atrial fibrillation in patients with acute ischemic stroke. The investigators hypothesize that a pattern with lesions located in at least two of the main arterial territories of the brain (left or right internal carotid artery or posterior circulation territory) is associated with atrial fibrillation. The investigators will retrospectively analyze clinical data and imaging lesion pattern of 1000 consecutive patients who were admitted to the Department of Neurology (Charite - Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Campus Benjamin Franklin) and diagnosed with acute ischemic stroke. Acute stroke patients of this cohort underwent 3-Tesla MRI with Diffusion-weighted Imaging (DWI) and Fluid-attenuated Inversion Recovery (FLAIR) sequences as well as standard 12-lead electrocardiography (ECG) on admission and cardiac monitoring with automated arrhythmia detection during stroke unit care lasting at least 24 hours. If DWI and FLAIR lesions are located in more than one of the main arterial territories, lesion pattern will be categorized as "multiple lesion pattern". The investigators hypothesize that a multiple lesion pattern will be detected more frequently in acute stroke patients with atrial fibrillation than in patients without atrial fibrillation. The findings of this study might help to identify patients who could profit from extended diagnostic work-up in order to detect atrial fibrillation.

Evaluation the Effectiveness of the Risk Minimisation Activities in the Treatment of Stroke Prevention...

Atrial Fibrillation

The key focus of this survey will be to collect data on physicians awareness of the content of the Pradaxa® Prescriber Guide and the extent to which risk awareness is communicated to patients. The data collected with atrial fibrillation patients will show if and how well this information is received and understood.

Observational Study to Assess Sociodemographic and Clinical Features of Patients Treated With Rivaroxaban...

Atrial Fibrillation

Depict demographic and clinical features of patients with atrial fibrillation treated with rivaroxaban to prevent stroke and pulmonary embolism in routine clinical practice

Enhanced Diagnostics for Early Detection of Atrial Fibrillation

Atrial Fibrillation

Paroxysmal atrial fibrillation can only be diagnosed during episodes when the arrhythmia is present. The investigators hypothesize that the activation of the atrial myocardium resulting in the p-wave of the ecg should display abnormalities in diseased atria which are vulnerable for AF.

GLORIA-AF Registry Program (Phase II/III)

StrokeAtrial Fibrillation

In this part of the Registry Program patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation (AF) at risk for stroke are enrolled to characterize the target population and to collect real world data on important outcome events. For administrative purposes the study is divided into three protocol numbers: 1160.129 for all non-EU (European Union) and non-EEA (European Economic Area) countries, 1160.136 for EU and EEA countries and 1160.171 for Switzerland. The total number of patients enrolled in three protocols is estimated to be 48,000 patients, and all these patients will be included in the data analysis for study 1160.129.

Registry on WATCHMAN Outcomes in Real-Life Utilization

Patients With Atrial Fibrillation at Risk for Thrombus FormationThromboembolism1 more

The WATCHMAN LAA Closure Technology is designed to prevent embolization of thrombi that may form in the LAA, thereby preventing the occurrence of ischemic stroke and systemic thromboembolism. The objectives of this observational, prospective, non-randomized multicenter study are (1) to compile real-world clinical outcomes data for WATCHMAN LAA (left atrial appendage) Close Technology in patients who are implanted with the WATCHMAN device in a commercial clinical setting and (2) to collect real-world usage data that may be needed for reimbursement of WATCHMAN technology in certain countries.

AF Stroke Substudy SL-ECG Versus 12lead ECG

ECGAtrial Fibrillation1 more

The purpose of the study is to compare parameters obtained per SL-ECG with the values from 12lead-ECG measurement. Patients who undergo out- or inpatient treatment and who receive a 12lead-ECG are asked to participate in this examination. Furthermore, 50 patients without heart disease should be included (control group).
