Exertional Exhaustion in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
Chronic Fatigue SyndromePost-exertional malaise was modeled by having Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) and sedentary control subjects perform submaximal exercise on 2 consecutive days with objective changes in brain function measured by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) during cognitive tests before and after the 2 exercise sessions.

The Role of Brain Activation and Cerebral Blood Flow in Mental Fatigue.
Mental FatigueHealthyTo assess the changes in brain activation and cerebral blood flow due to mental fatigue in a placebo-controlled study. More specifically we want to assess whether brain activation [measured with Blood Oxygen Level Dependent (BOLD) functional resonance imaging (fMRI)] is decreased during a Flanker task in a mentally fatigued state and whether this coincides with a decline in cognitive performance. In addition we also want to evaluate whether cerebral blood flow [measured with arterial spin labeled (ASL) fMRI] in a resting state is reduced when mentally fatigued.
Menstrual Cycle-induced Pain, Fatigue and Anxiety in Women Suffered From COVID-19
Menstrual ProblemCovid191 moreThe effects of COVID-19 on body systems and functions are still being investigated. ACE 2, which plays a key role in the entry of the COVID-19 virus into the cell, is also highly expressed in the ovary, uterus, vagina, and placenta in the female genital system, which can also pose a risk to female reproductive health. The aim of this study is to evaluate menstrual cycle-induced pain, fatigue and anxiety in women who suffered from COVID-19.
Stand Up Kansas: An Intervention to Reduce Sedentary Behavior in the Home Work Environment
Sedentary BehaviorBehavior9 moreThis project will examine the effectiveness of an intervention to reduce sedentary behavior in Kansas State University employees who are primarily working from home. We will recruit 100 employees to participate. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of four conditions: desk only, program only, desk + program, or waitlist control. The program will consist of strategies to reduce sitting and increase physical activity in the home environment. We will assess whether the intervention successfully elicits reductions in sitting among employees, as well as changes in cardiometabolic and work-related outcomes.
Effectiveness of Exercise Through Video Games in Reducing Fatigue Among Children With Leukemia
FatigueChildhood ALL40 children with cancer who fulfills the inclusion criteria will be included. Participants will be recruited from King Fahad Children's Cancer Center, King Fahad Medical City and King Khaled University Hospital. After obtaining written formal consent, children will be randomly assigned to two groups, control and experimental. Experimental group will play 60 minutes of Wii physical activity games for three weeks, twice each week. while control group will receive conventional therapy. Fatigue will be assessed using pediatric multidimensional fatigue scale- child proxy before, weekly during the study and after. Functional capacity will be measured by six minute walk test before and after study duration, and physical activity will be repeatedly measured by godin-shephard leisure time physical activity questionnaire. All data will be analyzed using appropriate statistical analysis.
The Effect of Overtime Pancreaticoduodenectomy on the Short-term Prognosis of Patients(EOPSPP)
PancreaticoduodenectomyFatigueSurgeons sometimes need to work overtime or even stay up late to perform pancreaticoduodenectomy. Fatigue and sleep deprivation can result in an increased error rate at work. The effect of overtime work for pancreaticoduodenectomy on the prognosis of patients is unclear. The study explores the impact of overtime work for pancreaticoduodenectomy on the prognosis of patients. This was a single-center, retrospective study. The patients who underwent pancreaticoduodenectomy in Peking University People's Hospital between 2017 and 2019 were included. Patients were stratified by operative start time into the control group (surgery that started between 8:00 and 16:49) and the overtime group (surgery that started between 17:00 and 22:00) and compared intraoperative and postoperative parameters to clarify the impact of overtime surgery on the short-term prognosis of patients.
Views of Nurses on Alarm Fatigue in ICUs
Nurse's RoleThis study focused on determining the views of nurses on alarm fatigue and its reduction in adult intensive care units.
Relationship Between Pain, Anxiety and Fatigue and Knee Position Sense, Balance and Dual Task Performance...
Multiple SclerosisMenstrual Pain3 moreThis study was carried out to investigate the relationship between pain, anxiety and fatigue and knee position sense, balance and dual task performance during menstrual cycle in females with Multiple Sclerosis (FwMS). In the neurologic group, especially in MS patients, it is well known that disease activity, course, and symptoms can be influenced by the menstrual cycle. Previous studies have reported that the fluctuations of estrogen and progesterone during the menstrual cycle may have an effect on several neurological functions. Menstrual-related symptomatology has primarily been studied as a physiological phenomenon. Increased neurological symptoms, physical disorders and behavioral changes have been reported just before or at the beginning of menstruation in FwMS. For all these reasons, investigators think that relationship between pain, anxiety and fatigue and knee position sense, balance and dual task performance during menstrual cycle in FwMS.
The U.K. Embryologist Fatigue Study
FatigueStress13 moreThe purpose of the study is to determine physical and mental health issues of U.K. embryologists related to their occupational characteristics, and how workplace fatigue and burnout may affect their quality of life, cynicism, interactions with patients, attention to detail, and lead to human error, the cause of the most severe IVF incidents that often make headlines and result in costly litigation. It will also correlate how the current manual workflows contribute to these health issues, and what measures can be taken to improve both working conditions and embryologists' health, and, therefore, improve patient care.
