The purpose of this study is to determine if inflammatory markers in blood as well as brain neurotransmitters (markers of in-brain activity and metabolism) are related to long-term or chronic fatigue.

The purpose of this research study is to learn about a possible association between cardiac denervation (the breaking down of nerves in the heart) and the development of fatigue in Parkinson's disease (PD).

Chronic fatigue is the most common and debilitating symptom in intensive care unit (ICU) survivors. Indeed, it has been widely reported that patients who stayed in ICU for prolonged periods report a feeling of tiredness for months to years after ICU discharge. This chronic fatigue affects their quality of life by decreasing their capacity to perform simple tasks of daily life. The aim of the present project is to determine whether deteriorated neuromuscular function (i.e. increased fatigability) is involved in this feeling of chronic fatigue. Because the causes of this feeling are multi-dimensional, a large battery of tests will allow us to better understand the origin of chronic fatigue. A better knowledge of chronic fatigue etiology will allow to optimize rehabilitation treatments to decrease the apparition/persistence of chronic fatigue and in fine improve life quality.

This randomized controlled trial (RCT) in newly-diagnosed breast cancer patients seeks to determine the effectiveness of a self-care toolkit on specific symptoms associated with surgery as compared to a standard care group.

Focusing attention is pertinent to the performance of closed self-paced motor tasks. The following study will examine the effectiveness of internal and external focus of attention instructions on the performance of a dart throwing task under rested and fatigue (after performing intense exercise) conditions. As well as the relationship between attentional focus instructions and gaze behavior under these two conditions.

Cancer-related fatigue (CRF) is one of the most prevalent and debilitating symptoms experienced by people with cancer. It can persist for months or years after cancer therapy is completed and has a negative impact on all areas of function. Meaningful evidence-based treatment options for CRF are extremely limited and finding safe, inexpensive, and effective interventions for managing this distressing symptom are urgently needed. Our previous clinical experience have shown that traditional Chinese medicine（TCM） had a great effect on improving CRF, Several studies proven that its'mechanism were related to the regulation of immune function and endocrine hormones. Fufang E'Jiao Jiang (FFEJJICRF) is a commonly-used Chinese patent medicine and successfully marketed in China for many years, which are effective in improvement for TCM symptoms of deficiency with qi and blood. This proposal will investigate the effects of FFEJJICRF on CRF among non-small cell lung cancer, colorectal cancer, and gastric cancer, so as to find a new way for curing it in clinical.

Objective: Sympathetic activity starts to increase during exercise. At the end of the exercise, while sympathetic activation decreases, parasympathetic activity increases. Sympathetic and parasympathetic excursions achieve homeostasis. Most of the parasympathetic activity effects are vagus code. It is aimed to compare the comparison of exercise and vagus therapy in these healthy individuals.

RATIONALE: Gathering information about how patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals cope with symptoms caused by lung cancer, such as breathlessness, cough, fatigue, anxiety, depression, pain, and difficulty sleeping, may help doctors learn more about non-drug methods of treating symptoms of respiratory distress. PURPOSE: This clinical trial is studying how caregivers help patients cope with respiratory and other symptoms caused by lung cancer.

A majority of women with breast cancer receive radiation therapy, and many of them experience the debilitating side effects of fatigue and insomnia. There is a need for an effective treatment that could ameliorate these symptoms and improve quality of life in the radiation therapy population. The primary purpose of the proposed research is to study the impact of massage therapy as a tool for the management of fatigue and insomnia experienced by women diagnosed with breast cancer and receiving radiation therapy. The secondary purpose is to explain, at the biochemical level, the effect of therapeutic massage on the level of fatigue and insomnia in radiation therapy patients. Prior studies have shown an association between fatigue and insomnia in the breast cancer patient following radiation therapy and the presence of inflammation as evidenced by increased proinflammatory cytokine production. The investigators hypothesize that therapeutic massage will ameliorate the symptoms of fatigue and insomnia associated with radiation therapy, and will be associated with a reduction in the plasma levels of interleukin-6 (IL-6),soluble IL-6 receptor (sIL-6R/CD126), and C-Reactive Protein (CRP). This reduction in proinflammatory biomarkers will be due to the activation of the cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway via the activation of the vagus nerve.

This study develops and pilot tests the efficacy of a home-based, self-administered acupressure intervention in improving cancer-related fatigue (proximal outcome), and physical functioning and other quality of life outcomes (distal outcomes) of Chinese immigrant breast cancer survivors (versus usual care control group).
