SHIFTPLAN: an RCT Investigating the Effect of a Shift Work Intervention on Fatigue, Sleep and Health....
Shift-work DisorderInsomnia5 moreShift work is associated with disturbed life rhythms resulting from chronic exposure to circadian misalignment and sleep restriction, with long-term participation in most shift schedules causing serious health problems. Epidemiological data show that shift workers are at increased risk of sleepiness, fatigue and insomnia, cardiovascular disease, breast cancer and shift-work disorder. Prevalence estimates of shift-work disorder vary between 5% and 26,5%. Given these widespread and serious health and functional consequences of shift work, there is a necessity for treatments that improve shift workers' health and work performance. Most non-pharmacological recommendations mention improved scheduling, bright-light exposure, napping, psychoeducation fostering sleep hygiene, and cognitive-behavioral interventions. The effects of shift work on the health, fatigue and sleepiness of drivers have been robustly investigated in observational studies, as well as the effects of single measures such as scheduling or resting times. But studies on the effectiveness of countermeasures against the adverse impact of shift work are sparse, especially for high-risk populations such as professional drivers and controlled intervention studies are lacking. Several other investigators expounded the need for a multi-level approach to managing occupational sleep-related fatigue and workplace interventions to promote sleep and health of shift workers. Highlighting the high public-health burden associated with lack of recuperative sleep, the authors pointed out the pressing need to develop policies and implement programs aimed at improving workers' sleep health. With SHIFTPLAN, the investigators aim to fill this gap in comprehensive approaches. To their knowledge, this is the first randomised controlled trial to systematically gauge the effect of a multimodal program that includes ergonomic shift scheduling and an educational program on well-defined health, sleep and performance outcomes in professional drivers.
Combination Therapy for Cancer Related Fatigue in Patients With Metastatic Cancers
Metastatic CancersFatigueTo find out if combining psychoeducational interventions (such as education, counseling, and self-managed therapies) with an open-label placebo can help to improve your quality of life better than either the psychoeducational interventions or the placebo alone.
Using Combine Walking and Elastic Band to Decrease Fatigue
Cancer Related FatigueThis study is expected to propose an industry-university cooperation research case for the next two years. When cancer patients use ePRO to record subjective fatigue, and smart watches with 4G communication record objective fatigue, they will be given according to the patient's current degree of mild, moderate and severe fatigue. Suffer from 'exercise or activity' advice and lead the implementation of appropriate exercise advice. This study is expected to design aerobic + anaerobic exercise suitable for mild or moderate patients, and use the sensor of the smart watch to monitor the effect of exercise and fatigue. To sum up, the first-year plan is expected to use the established ePRO electronic records, combined with the LINE communication system, to integrate into a "cancer-related fatigue electronic registration and care system"; the second-year plan will integrate objective fatigue classifiers, Establish the exercise care option in the fatigue care system, and use the smart watch to establish a technology record function of the exercise process to help track the fatigue level of cancer patients.
The Effect of Range of Motion Exercises on Fatigue and Sleep Quality in Hemodialysis
Renal FailureRange of motion exercises is a simple nursing action that has many benefits and is easy to perform independently . Hemodialysis patients are less active and have low intrinsic motivation for physical activity compared to sedentary healthy individuals. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of joint range of motion exercises on fatigue and sleep quality in patients receiving hemodialysis treatment. As a result of the literature review; The lack of a study on this subject and the inclusion of nurses, who play an important role in symptom management, in care interventions that are easy to learn and without complications, increase the quality of care.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy on Fatigue Interference in Patients With Advanced Lung Cancer...
Lung CancerAdvanced Cancer1 moreLung cancer is a malignant tumour that has transformed from a single cancer disease into one of the most striking global health problems. Lung cancer has an insidious onset, and most patients are first diagnosed with the middle and advanced stages. Cancer-related fatigue is the most common and distressing symptom reported by lung cancer patients. For cancer patients, fatigue has a lasting impact on physical, psychological and social functions, and interferes with activities and participating in life events, thereby worsening the health-related quality of life. Family members have a key role in providing advanced lung cancer patients with informational, instrumental, and emotional support, which is crucial to patients' adaptation to the advanced illness and living a meaningful cancer life. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is the third-wave cognitive behavioural therapy to improve functioning and health-related quality of life by increasing psychological flexibility. The study aims to examine test the feasibility and acceptability, and preliminary effects of online ACT on fatigue interference in patients with advanced lung cancer and caregiver burden.
Treatment Adherence and Fatigue in Iron Deficiency
FatigueAdherence1 moreIron Deficiency Anemia is an important health problem. Iron deficiency anemia constitutes half of the anemia seen in the world, and children and women constitute the group with iron deficiency anemia in our country (Internal Medicine Nursing Book with Case Scenarios, 2019; Turkey Program Guide as Iron). The treatment is iron replacement by oral or parenteral route (Guzelcuk, Ozbek, 2017). Due to the side effects of the drugs given in the treatment, the patients have difficulty in adapting to the treatment and there is a change in their fatigue levels (Guzelcuk, Özbek, 2017; Guide, 2019; Çipil, Demircioğlu, 2016). It is thought that the education given to the patients will increase their compliance with the treatment. It is thought that patients' hospital admissions and fatigue levels may change in the failure to comply with the treatment. In this study, the effect of the education given on the treatment compliance and fatigue of the patients will be investigated. This research will help patients with iron deficiency anemia whether they need education, the importance of treatment compliance and their fatigue levels.
The Effect of Home-Based Walking Program on Peripheral Neuropathy, Fatigue and Quality of Life
Chemotherapeutic ToxicityThe study aims to evaluate the effect of home-based walking program on peripheral neuropathy, fatigue and quality of life in patients receiving taxane and platinum-based chemotherapy. The study was designed as a randomized controlled trial. This study will be carried out with a total of 86 cancer patients receiving taxane and platinum-based chemotherapy, 43 of whom were in the intervention group and 43 in the control group, whose treatment was started in Akdeniz University Hospital."Home Based Walking Program" will be applied to the patients in the intervention group for 8 weeks.Within the scope of the Home-Based Walking Program, face-to-face patient education, patient education booklet, sending text messages, face-to-face and telephone counseling were planned. Patient Identification Form, International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ- Short Form), National Cancer Institute (NCI) -CTCAE v5.0 Toxicity Criteria, Cancer Fatigue Scale, EORTC QLQ-CIPN20 (Quality of Life Chemotherapy-Induced Peripheral Neuropathy) and EORTC QLQ-C30 (Quality of Life Scale), Interview Form will be used to collect data.

Survivors randomized to Arm 1 will receive Standard Care and Arm 2 will receive standard care plus a four-week YOCAS©® intervention where Hispanic survivors attend yoga sessions together. Investigators will acquire preliminary data on cancer-related fatigue, as well as, secondary data on other common side effects.
A Phase II Trial of PG2 in Patients With Advanced Pharyngeal or Laryngeal Squamous Cell Carcinoma...
Cancer-related FatigueEighty to 90% of SCCHN (squamous cell carcinoma of head and neck) patients in Taiwan were betel quid chewers. Thirty to 40% of them experienced mucositis World Health Organization (WHO) grade 3 from cisplatin/flurouracil (FU) in neoadjuvant chemotherapy setting. This was higher than the 8-11% reported in the Western populations and was related to oral submucous fibrosis from betel quid chewing.Severer toxicities, esp. mucositis, could be anticipated in patients of betel quid chewing treated by concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) with cisplatin/FU.PG2 Injection is proved to be safe for clinical use and is effective in stimulating the recovery of hematopoiesis and immunity from chemotherapy-induced myelosuppression. It also improved the Quality of Life, especially in fatigue, among advanced cancer patients. This study will be investigated the effect of PG2 Injection in relieving the adverse events of concurrent chemoradiotherapy, such as fatigue, myelosuppression, mucositis, body weight loss, and even the compliance of radiotherapy and chemotherapy in treatment of patients with advanced pharyngeal or laryngeal SCCHN.
