The objective of the clinical trial is to quantify the capacity of a translatable protocol of electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) to improve walking performance and self-reported disabilities of persons with MS. The hypothesis is that activation of sensory nerve fibers with augmented TENS promotes recovery of sensorimotor function and improves the disability status of individuals with MS. The rationale for the proposed clinical trial is that the approach provides a low-cost therapeutic strategy for persons with MS to manage walking limitations and fatigue.

Hemodialysis is a necessary treatment to prolong the lives of patients with end-stage kidney disease. However, long-term dialysis can lead to fatigue and decreased sleep quality. Acupoint stimulation can regulate meridians and improve physical function. Nevertheless, the effectiveness of low-level laser stimulation on fatigue and sleep quality in hemodialysis patients remains unclear. This study is designed to use low-level laser stimulation as an intervention measure to evaluate its effectiveness in improving fatigue and sleep quality in hemodialysis patients.

The primary objective of this randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, cross-over study is to assess the acute effects of a novel ingredient, guayusa on alertness and mental fatigue compared to a placebo. This trial will utilize the COMPASS cognitive task and cognitive demand battery (CDB) and mood, motivation, and energy measures with assessments taking place at baseline, 60- and 120-minutes post treatment on three separate testing days separated by ~7 days.
