Role of Interleukin (IL)-1 in Postprandial Fatigue - The Chäschüechli 2 Study
AdiposityRole of IL-1 in postprandial fatigue - The Chäschüechli 2 Study It is a randomized, single dose, placebo-controlled, double blind, cross-over, proof-of-concept study. 16 healthy young men will be included in this study. The objective of this study is to evaluate if severity of postprandial fatigue is driven by IL-1. Since fatigue is associated with increased cytokine levels, and since fatigue in chronic inflammatory settings, such as type 2 diabetes, can be reduced by inhibition of IL-1β, postprandial fatigue might also respond to anti-inflammatory intervention with IL-1 inhibition. The aim of the study is to investigate whether postprandial fatigue is, at least in part, driven by the IL-1 system.
Effect Of Hot Water Foot Bath Applied İn The Early Period After Cesarean Section On Pain, Fatigue...
Cesarean SectionThe aim of this research is to determine the effect of hot water foot bath applied in the early period after cesarean section on pain, fatigue and gas release. The sample of the research consisted of 80 women who gave birth by cesarean section. 'Descriptive Information Form', 'Numerical Rating Scale', 'Visual Analogue Scale for Fatigue', 'Experimental Group Patient Follow-up Form', 'Control Group Patient Follow-up Form' were used as data collection tools. It was determined that the hot water foot bath applied in the early period after cesarean section reduced the level of pain and fatigue, and had no effect on gas release.

The Effect of Progressive Relaxation Exercise on Fatigue in Intensive Care Nurses
Intensive Care NurseFatigueThis study was planned as a randomized controlled experiment. It was aimed to examine the effect of progressive relaxation exercises applied to intensive care nurses on fatigue. The sociodemographic information of the participants will be collected with the 'Personal Information Form' and their fatigue levels with the 'Fatigue Severity Scale'. SPSS 22.0 package program will be used in the analysis of the data. p<0.05 will be considered significant.
Why am I Still Tired ? A Group for Cancer-related Fatigue
CancerFatigue1 moreCancer related fatigue (CRF) has been defined as a "distressing, persistent, subjective sense of tiredness or exhaustion related to cancer or cancer treatment that is not proportional to recent activity and interferes with usual functioning". CRF has been found to affect between 59-99% of patients undergoing active treatment. Approximately a third of cancer survivors will continue to experience moderate to severe fatigue upwards of 10 years post-diagnosis. Given the prominence of CRF, guidelines for the assessment and management of CRF have been developed, including guidelines by the Canadian Association for Psychosocial Oncology (CAPO). Despite the availability of guidelines for CRF and a plethora of interventions that have demonstrated effectiveness in aiding patients manage CRF, implementation has been lacking. The objective of this study is to adapt, implement, and evaluate an already existing intervention for CRF in the community using the Knowledge-to-Action framework. This study is an implementation study and evaluation of an evidence-based cognitive-behavioral therapy intervention for CRF in a community setting. An evident knowledge to practice gap exists for CRF management in Ottawa, Canada. Through partnership with a community organization, the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation, and an emphasis on long-term sustainability, this project aims to provide more accessible treatment for cancer survivors who are experiencing CRF in the Ottawa region.

Effect of Massage Therapy on Fatigue and Sleep Quality in Patients With Heart Failure in Intensive...
MassageHeart FailureThe purpose of this study was to explore the effect of massage therapy on fatigue and sleep quality in patients with heart failure in the intensive care unit. The study design was a randomized control trial and repeated measurements. A convenience sampling was used to recruit heart failure patients with New York Heart Association (NYHA) II-III from the intensive care unit of a regional teaching center. In addition to routine turning, patients in the experimental group received daily back massage intervention for 10 minute, once a day; the control group maintained usual care. The data collection included three time points: baseline, 4th and 7th day after the intervention. Research tools include basic personal data, Piper fatigue scale and Pittsburgh sleep quality scale.
The Effect of the Level of Hand Fatigability on Multiple Sclerosis on General Fatigue and Functionality...
FatigueFunctionality2 moreThe objective of this study is to investigate the effect of the level of hand fatigability on general fatigue and functionality by comparing Relapsing-Remitting Multiple Sclerosis individuals with age and sex-matched healthy individuals. 23 RRMS and 23 healthy people (mean age 40.08, 21 females, mean time since diagnosis 9.43 years, mean Expanded Disability Status Scale 3.23) were included in the study. To examine participants' fatigability level; for gross and pinch-grip Dynamic and Static Fatigue Index, for manual dexterity and functionality level Scale for the Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA), Nine Hole Peg Test (NHPT) and Dexterity Questionnaire-24 (DextQ-24) were used. While Fatigue Severity Scale (FSS) and Fatigue Impact Scale (FIS) were used to examine general fatigue, Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) was used to assess emotional status. The mean age of healthy individuals with RRMS was 40.08 ± 9.81 years, and the EDSS means of individuals with RRMS was 3.23 ± 1.47. 21 of both groups were female and 2 were male. It was determined that the difference between MS individuals and healthy individuals' SARA, NHPT, FSS and FIS averages, initial and final strength values was statistically significant (p≤0.05), and the decrease in force in individuals with RRMS was higher than in healthy individuals. However, there was no difference between RRMS and healthy individuals in terms of fatigability levels examined with the Dynamic and Static Fatigue Index (p>0.05). While the relationship of Static and Dynamic Fatigue Index with FSS and FIS was not statistically significant, the relationship was significant with DextQ-24's dressing, daily activities and TV/CD/DVD subsections (p<0.05). In individuals with early RRMS, there is a decrease in the repetitive (dynamic) and continuous (static) contractions of the rough and pinch grip strength, and this decrease is related to the negative impact on the daily living activities and functionality of the individuals. In particular, motor fatigue should be addressed from the early stages of rehabilitation programs that will be planned to maintain the active participation of individuals with RRMS in their daily living activities. To show motor fatigue with indices, further studies with different fatigue indices and individuals with RRMS at different EDSS levels are needed.
Using Pictograms to Make Privacy Agreements More Accessible
Information Fatigue SyndromeBackground: Privacy agreements can foster trust between users and data collecting entities by reducing the fear of data sharing. Users typically identify concerns with their data privacy settings, especially when it comes to health data, but due to the complexity and length of privacy agreements, users opt to quickly consent and agree to the terms without fully understanding them. Objective: This study explores the use of pictograms as potential elements to assist in improving the transparency and explanation of privacy agreements. Methods: During the development of the pictograms, the Double Diamond design process was applied for 3 instances of user interactions and 3 iterations of pictograms. The testing was done by performing a comparative study between a control group, which received a fictional privacy agreement about a health tracking wearable with no pictograms, and an experimental group, which received pictograms. The pictograms were individually tested to assess their efficacy by using an estimated comprehension of information symbols test.
