MUMMIBODIES. Eating Disorders, Pregnancy and Post Partum Period.
Mental Health DisorderEating Disorders2 moreMUMMIEBODIES is a research study when women with eating disorders encounter pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum. These are some condensed months that represent major challenges for this group. There are both a scientific and clinical basis for the mother's mental health to influence care and interaction with the child. In the case of eating disorders, there is also a risk of harmful consequences for the fetus as well as for more complicated pregnancies and births. This is a very important field of knowledge, but also a field about which there is far too little scientific knowledge. There is too little scientific knowledge about how women with eating disorders physically and mentally relate to their bodies and food during and after pregnancy. There is a great need for research that promotes expertise in how to help and meet women with eating disorders in these important phases of life. The aim of the study is to bring out the users' experiences. The investigators interview face-to-face pregnant women and mothers with eating disorders about their subjective experiences both during pregnancy and during childbirth. Recruitment of participants will be via health stations. The investigators will identify the course, experiences and solutions when women with eating disorders encounter pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum. The investigators focus on three themes: 1) experience of course and change, 2) experience of emotional, cognitive and relational core experiences, and 3) women's own perceptions of what is the best help. The three themes have in common that they are fundamental for later development of help for this vulnerable group. The investigators have a clear idea that some of the best preventive work can be done before life really starts.
Genetic Correlates of Wasting: a Pilot Study With Children Attending a Tertiary Feeding Clinic
UndernutritionEating Disorders1 moreThis is a pilot study of children attending the Glasgow feeding clinic (GFC) which looks after a range of children with severe feeding problems who commonly have low appetite and extreme thinness. The investigators want to find out if these children are more likely to carry genetic markers of thinness.
Impact of COVID-19 Lockdown on Obesity and Eating Behaviors
Feeding and Eating DisordersCOVID-19 lockdown presents particular challenges for people living with obesity. Indeed during this period, the lifestyle was deeply modified: diet, activity, and sleep behaviours, home office, take care of child, social distancing... All of these modifications may have led to stress and anxiety. It has been previously demonstrated that high perceived stress levels are correlated with high preference for sweet and fat foods . In this context caution would be exercised in obese patients especially those with binge eating disorders. Indeed binge eating disorder is characterized by compulsive overeating or consuming abnormal amounts of food while feeling unable to stop and a loss of control. And one key trigger of binge eating disorder is stress and anxiety. Thus, patients with binge eating disorders may have been more sensitive to the impact of lockdown and thus urgently would require appropriated care management. The main objective is to compare the eating behaviour between obese patients with or without binge eating disorders. The second objective is to compare the weight evolution between the two groups before and after the lockdown. To reach these objectives, the scientific team of the CIO project proposes to contact by phone and e-mail obese patients (with or without binge eating disorders) who have been hospitalized for their obesity disease before the start of the lockdown in the Endocrinology department of the Lyon Hospital. The patients will be asked to fill in several questionnaires (using an online tool) allowing to evaluate their mood, anxiety, eating behaviour, binge eating disorders… during the lockdown. The results of these questionnaires will be compared to those collected during their hospitalisation before the lockdown. The hypothesis is that participants suffering from binge eating disorder will have more sever eating behaviour perturbations as higher level of stress, anxiety, depressive symptoms.
Latent Structure of Multi-level Assessments and Predictors of Outcomes in Psychiatric Disorders...
DepressionAnxiety2 moreIn this study the investigators will seek to improve our understanding of how positive and negative valence systems, cognition, and arousal/interoception are inter-related in disorders of mood, substance use, and eating behavior. The investigators will recruit 1000 individuals and use a wide range of assessment tools, neuroimaging measures, blood and microbiome collections and behavioral tasks to complete the baseline and follow-up study visits. Upon completion, the investigators aim to have robust and reliable dimensional measures that quantify these systems and a set of assessments that should be recommended as a clinical tool to enhance outcome prediction for the clinician and assist in determining who will likely benefit from what type of intervention.
Study of Psychomotor Development and Attachment in Children Aged 6 to 30 Months With Oral Disorder...
Eating Disorders in ChildrenPsychomotor Development ImpairedDietary difficulties and eating disorders of the child are a common reason for consulting infants and young children. There is currently little data on the psychomotor development of these children and their association with parent-child attachment. The objective of this study is to evaluate, at the same time, the three physiological, psychomotor and attachment dimensions of children with eating disorders.
Description and Evaluation of Eating Disorders in Elite Athletes (TCA SHN)
Eating DisordersAnorexia Nervosa2 moreAthletes in particular elite athletes have obsessional food and body concerns, in bond with a worship of the performance more and more invading, which lead to clinical and subclinical eating disorders. These eating disorders differ according to the disciplines and are difficult to diagnose in athletes because there are insufficiently described. Our aim at estimating the frequency of eating disorders in athletes and describing eating disorders by means of somatic, dietetic and psychological evaluations.
Perceptions of Their Own Body and of the Body of Their Child Among Young Mothers With Anorexia Nervosa...
Anorexia NervosaEating DisordersThe BodyBabe studies aims to evaluate the perceptions that young mothers with anorexia nervosa (active or in remission) have of their own body and of the body of their child. The evaluations are carried out with self-assessment questionnaires and silhouette scales at three time points: D0 (during the stay at the maternity hospital), D15 (15 days after delivery) and M9 (9 months after delivery). The output expected from this study is to validate a questionnaire to help healthcare providers to adapt their care of women with anorexia nervosa during the pregnancy and the post-partum period.
Animal-Assisted Therapy in Adolescents With Eating Disorders
Eating Disorders in AdolescenceEating Disorders1 moreThis study aims to improve eating disorders symptomatology, mental, psychosocial and physical health, quality of life, strength and body composition of adolescents with eating disorders by the development of a dog-assisted therapy program. The current research will involve thirty-two patients distributed equally in a control and an experimental group. The intervention group will participate once a week in a dog-assisted therapy of seven weeks. Moreover, all the included patients will participate in an assessment session before and after the intervention to compare the effects of the dog-assisted therapy within and between groups in anxiety, depression, character, behavior, eating disorder evolution, health-related quality of life, treatment satisfaction, strength and body composition. Based on previous studies on different populations, it is expected that, compared to the control group, the experimental group may experience a potential reduction in anxiety, depression and symptoms, while improving quality of life, strength, body composition and behavior.
