Myocardial Fibrosis and Inflammation in Liver Cirrhosis
CirrhosisLiver2 moreThe aim of this clinical prospective study is to assess structural and functional myocardial changes in patients with liver cirrhosis after implantation of transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS).
COVID-19 in Patients With Pre-existing Cirrhosis (COVID-Cirrhosis-CHESS2002): A Multicentre Observational...
COVID-19Liver CirrhosisCOVID-19 pandemic with SARS-CoV-2 infection has become a global challenge. Though most cases of COVID-19 are mild, the disease can also be fatal. Patients with liver cirrhosis are more susceptible to damage from SARS-CoV-2 infection considering their immunocompromised status. The spectrum of disease and factors that influence the disease course in COVID-19 cases with liver cirrhosis are incompletely defined. This muilticentre observational study (COVID-Cirrhosis-CHESS2002) aims to study the clinical characteristics and risk factors associated with specific outcomes in COVID-19 patients with pre-existing liver cirrhosis.
Esophagectomy in Patients With Liver Cirrhosis
Esophageal CancerLiver CirrhosisRetrospective and confounder adjusted comparison of perioperative and longterm outcomes of patients requiring an esophagectomy for esophageal cancer with and without concomitant liver cirrhosis.
Acute-On-Chronic Liver Failure In Cirrhotic Patients
CirrhosisLiverCirrhosis is a condition characterized by diffuse fibrosis, severe disruption of the intrahepatic arterial and venous flow, portal hypertension and, ultimately, liver cell failure. Traditionally, cirrhosis has been dichotomised in compensated and decompensated, and the transition to decompensated cirrhosis happens when any of the following hallmarks occurs: presence of ascites, variceal haemorrhage and/ or hepatic encephalopathy (HE) . In Egypt, HCV is the main cause of liver cirrhosis followed by HBV
Acoustic Liver Biopsy in Normals and in Patients With Cirrhosis Using Endoscopic Ultrasound
AlcoholismCirrhosis1 moreThe purpose of this study is to determine the amount of fibrosis in the liver of hepatitis C patients with advanced fibrosis, using endoscopic ultrasound.
Cerebral Oxygen, Blood Flow and Ammonia Uptake in Patients With Cirrhosis and an Acute Episode of...
Liver CirrhosisHepatic EncephalopathyWe wish to study patients with liver cirrhosis during and 2 weeks after an acute episode of liver coma (hepatic encephalopathy). By means of Positron Emission Tomography we investigate; brain blood flow, brain ammonia uptake and brain oxygen consumption. We hypothesize that blood flow an oxygen consumption is diminished and ammonia uptake increased during an acute episode of hepatic encephalopathy.
Compositional Shift of Gut Microbiome According to the Complications in Patients With Liver Cirrhosis...
Liver CirrhosisChange in gut microbiome is closely associated with liver cirrhosis diseases initiation, progression, establishment, and severity. Nevertheless, compositional alterations in gut microbiome during cirrhosis development still not been evaluated, comprehensively. Here, investigators compared the gut microbial composition in cirrhosis patients to encompassing the gut microbial role in whole spectrum of disease.
Bleeding in Hospitalized Patients With Liver Disease Undergoing Invasive Procedures
BleedingProcedural Complication4 morePatients with cirrhosis are frequently hospitalized and often undergo procedures. Knowledge surrounding bleeding risk is sparse and practice patterns vary across centers in regards to bleeding prophylaxis. The goal of this study to is to obtain more knowledge regarding risk factors for procedural related bleeding in patients with cirrhosis and to develop a predictive model to risk stratify patients before undergoing procedures. Through collaboration from centers across the world this study should provide information on prevalence of bleeding and variation in practice patterns for prophylaxis.
Perioperative Care of HVPG Measurement (CHESS1904): An International Multicenter Survey
Portal HypertensionCirrhosis1 moreHepatic venous pressure gradient (HVPG) is an invasive test and requires technical skills of the operator and specialized instruments. HVPG measurement and anesthesia can cause stress responses in the body, which in turn lead to inflammatory response and immune function suppression. Thus, the perioperative care for patients undergoing HVPG measurement is crucial. This research trial studies comprehensive patient and medical worker questionnaires in predicting complications in patients with cirrhosis undergoing HVPG measurement. Comprehensive patient and medical worker questionnaires may help identify complications, such as the need for assistance in taking medication, decreased mobility and released tension that may improve outcomes.
Electrophysiological Evaluation of Motor Dysfunction in Liver Cirrhotic Patients
Liver CirrhosesPeripheral Neuropathycross sectional observational study, aimed to assess the electrophysiological function of the motor units in liver cirrhotic patients.
