A Multi-Centered Study of the Long-Term Effect of Salmeterol and Albuterol in Cystic Fibrosis
Cystic FibrosisLong term use of bronchodilators in CF is beneficial to the improvement of pulmonary function and symptoms. This study is investigating the long-term benefit of administration of the drug Salmeterol, a bronchodilator. Salmeterol will be compared to albuterol or placebo. The medication will be inhaled twice a day for 6 months.
Risk Factors of Liver Fibrosis Among First Degree Relatives of Patients With NASH Related Cirrhosis...
Liver CirrhosesThe study aim to identify the risk factors of liver fibrosis among first degree relatives. This study consists of 2 parts (Cross Sectional and Case Control Study). Part 1: The first primary objective will be achieved by following study design. Study population: First degree relatives of NRC. Study design: A Cross Sectional Study Part 2 The second Primary objective will be achieved by following study design. Study design: A Case Control Study Study population: Case: NASH related Cirrhosis patients Control-1: Healthy Control. Control-2: HBV Disease Control Study period: 3 Years All the patients diagnosed with NASH cirrhosis attending Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences OPD/IPD will be enrolled. An informed consent will be taken. Complete details of the subject will be taken. The data will be collected on socio-demographic by (socio-demographic questionnaire), alcohol by AUDIT-C (Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test), Tobacco by FTND (Fagerstrom Test Nicotine Dependence), physical activity by IPAQ (International Physical Activity Questionnaire), Diet by FFQ (Food Frequency Questionnaire), physical measurement & all the comorbidities. Blood will be collected and analyzed for Platelets, PT/INR, Serum Creatinine, LFT, FBS, HOMA-IR, Lipid Profile, HBsAg, AntiHBs, Anti HBc, Anti HCV, Anti HAV, IgM anti HAV, IgM anti HEV, auto-Immune markers, Ceruloplasmin, Transferrin, S.Ferritin, Alpha1antitrpsin and genetic markers. The stool will be collected and analyzed for gut microbiota profiling.
Observational Study Comparing Home to Office Spirometry
Cystic FibrosisThis is a prospective, longitudinal multicenter observational study comparing home to office spirometry and home to office weight and height measurements. The aim of the study is to estimate the accuracy and variability of home spirometric measurements over time, and to assess the feasibility and acceptability of home measurements.
Advancing Prevention of Pulmonary Fibrosis
IPFPulmonary Fibrosis1 moreThis study plans to learn more about pulmonary fibrosis and how it develops. We want to determine if the disease can be detected early, before the lung is permanently scarred. This study will enroll participants who are not currently diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis, but who have family members with pulmonary fibrosis. Because there is an increased risk within affected families, this cohort will allow us to learn how pulmonary fibrosis develops, and how the lungs change over time.
Fractional Excretion of Urea for the Differential Diagnosis of Acute Kidney Injury in Cirrhosis...
Acute Kidney InjuryThe aim of this study is to evaluate: The diagnostic performance of Fractional Excretion of Urea (FEUrea) for the differential diagnosis of acute kidney injury in patients with cirrhosis and ascites presenting to a tertiary care hospital. The ability of Fractional Excretion of Urea to distinguish between structural group of acute kidney injury (acute tubular necrosis) versus functional group of acute kidney injury (prerenal azotemia and hepatorenal syndrome), and types of functional group (prerenal azotemia versus hepatorenal syndrome type 1).
Prospective Cohort Study of Disease and Outcomes in Cirrhosis
Liver CirrhosisAlcoholic3 moreA population based incidence cohort will enroll patients newly diagnosed with cirrhosis to investigate disease characteristics and outcomes, explore mechanisms predicting early death and hospital admission, and assess new monitoring tools in treatment and prevention of cirrhosis.
Bacterial Gene Profiling to Predict Antibiotic Resistance During Cystic Fibrosis Pulmonary Exacerbations...
Cystic FibrosisPulmonary exacerbations (PEx) are key events that lead to a decline in health status among CF patients, with many never recovering to baseline health. With the advancement of new CFTR modulators and other therapies increasing the lifespan of those living with CF, it will become increasingly important to have better strategies to manage PEx in order to have better outcomes following treatment. PEx treatment decisions will need to take into consideration the increasing frequency of antimicrobial resistance bacteria and the need to treat multiple types of bacteria at once. The purpose of this study is to analyze sputum samples from CF subjects at the time of PEx in order to identify markers of antimicrobial resistant bacteria and see how those relate to treatment responses. CF patients will be recruited from patients followed by the Adult CF Program at National Jewish Health. Within 48 hours of admission to the hospital for treatment of a PEx, subjects will be enrolled and sputum will be collected. The sputum will be processed and analyzed for the presence of antimicrobial resistant bacteria. These results will be compared to clinical data, such as spirometry and frequency of hospitalizations.
Liver Cirrhosis Network Cohort Study
CirrhosisCirrhosis11 moreLiver Cirrhosis Network (LCN) Cohort Study is an observational study designed to identify risk factors and develop prediction models for risk of decompensation in adults with liver cirrhosis. LCN Cohort Study involves multiple institutions and an anticipated 1200 participants. Enrolled participants will have study visits every 6 months (180 days), with opportunities to complete specific visit components via telehealth or remotely. Visits will include collection of questionnaire data and the in-person visits will include questionnaires, physical exams, imaging, and sample collection.
Alternate Measures of Glucose During OGTT Testing for CFRD
Cystic FibrosisCystic Fibrosis-related DiabetesAlthough early detection and treatment of cystic fibrosis-related diabetes (CFRD) can lead to significant clinical improvements and prolong life, rates of screening are poor likely due to the burdensome nature of oral glucose tolerance testing (OGTT). The investigators propose to assess the feasibility and accuracy of two screening tools, continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) and a home OGTT kit (GTT@home). If this pilot study reveals acceptable accuracy of either device, this study will allow for future studies exploring home-based OGTT screening.
Establishment of a Model for Predicting the Prognosis of HBV-related Decompensated Liver Cirrhosis...
Liver CirrhosisMalnutritionFor all countries, chronic liver disease and liver cirrhosis is one of the important disease burdens. Malnutrition is an important complication of liver cirrhosis, which always runs through the course of liver cirrhosis. According to a lot of scientific research evidence, as the consensus of experts all over the world, malnutrition in patients with liver cirrhosis is closely related to poor outcome. Therefore, early and accurate identification of the risk of malnutrition is very important to improve the prognosis of patients with liver cirrhosis. The purpose of this study was to study the relationship between malnutrition-related indexes and prognosis in patients with liver cirrhosis. 2000 patients with liver cirrhosis were prospectively included, laboratory indexes related to malnutrition and other evaluation indexes were recorded, and long-term follow-up was made to observe the short-term and long-term prognosis of patients with liver cirrhosis. At the same time, a prognostic prediction model was established based on multivariate Cox regression, and a series of in-depth studies and verification were carried out on this basis.
