These complications of spinal anaesthesia could decline cognitive function. In this way a non invasive monitoring technique as cerebral oximetry is useful for the safety of anesthetic procedure.

Patients who undergo surgery to the lower leg and/or foot are usually offered the option of a nerve block to help with pain control after surgery. A nerve block involves injecting local anesthetic (numbing medicine) by a nerve or nerves that provide sensation to the area where surgery will be performed. The local anesthetic (numbing medication) numbs up the area where the surgery is performed and helps decrease the amount of pain felt after surgery. The local anesthetic (numbing medication) can be injected in various patterns by a nerve, such as in one spot by a nerve or completely surrounding a nerve. The local anesthetic will be either injected around the sciatic nerve or will injected in a way that will split the sciatic nerve into the two component nerves that make it up, the tibial and sciatic, and surrounds each nerve. The hypothesis is that subjects in the group that local anesthetic is injected in a pattern that separates the sciatic nerve into the two component nerves may have a faster onset time of regional anesthesia and block success than subjects in the group that have the local anesthetic injected at around the nerve.

In this study, the investigators will use Radiostereometric Analysis (RSA) to look at how the pieces of femur bone move as the bone heals. RSA is a special x-ray that uses radiographs to measure very small movements in the bone over time. The question that will be answered by this study is whether RSA can be used as a tool to monitor fracture healing.

The descriptive retrospective analysis of patients included in this pathway was the subject of a first study on patients included between January 2010 and January 2011 and reported to the Congress of the French Society of Rheumatology (SFR) in December 2011, then a second study on patients included between January 2012 and December 2016, presented as an e-poster at the SFR Congress in December 2017 and in a poster at the American Society of Bone and Mineral Research Conference (ASBMR) in October 2018 and published in 2019 in Archives of Osteoporosis. The effectiveness specialized osteoporosis clinics is the subject of numerous publications. It therefore seems important to evaluate the effectiveness of our management, 3 years from the date of inclusion of patients in the osteoporosis clinic of our hospital.
Weight Bearing for Fibular Fractures
Fibula FractureIt is common practice to restrict weight bearing after ankle fracture open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) until week 6 postoperatively. However, controversy exists surrounding the optimal postoperative protocol. At our institution, all ankle fractures are made non-weight bearing for 6 weeks across the board. Isolated lateral malleolar fractures after ORIF may benefit from earlier weight bearing in terms of patient satisfaction, short-term functionality, and return to work. The purpose of this study is to determine if early weight bearing at 2 weeks postoperatively for isolated lateral malleolar fractures leads to a higher satisfaction with surgery as compared to standard protocol for postoperative ankle fractures and better functional outcomes
